Summary:
A Registered Respiratory Therapist provides advanced respiratory care to patients with complex pulmonary disorders and critical illnesses. They independently assess, treat, and manage patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including those in intensive care units and emergency situations. RRTs work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver life-saving therapies and patient-centered care.
Essential Work Functions:
Collaborate with physicians to develop patient treatment plans
Examine and interview patients with breathing and/or cardiopulmonary disorders
Perform diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity or collecting blood/sputum samples
Treat patients through various methods including chest physiotherapy and aerosol medications
Set up and monitor equipment to ensure the patient is receiving the correct amount of oxygen at the correct rate
Observe and record patient status and progress
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate patient care
Educate patients and/or family members on how to properly take medication and use equipment
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of RRT practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

Respiratory Care Staff Technician
The Respiratory Care Staff Technician (S.T.) is currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care educational program and functions in a limited capacity, exclusively within the realm of routine respiratory care. Practical knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system is required to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients receiving respiratory care. The S.T. will function under the clinical supervision and guidance of the shift supervisor or charge therapist
The Respiratory Care Staff Technician must demonstrate beginning and intermediate knowledge of clinical application and theoretical respiratory principles consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the respiratory care profession. are responsible for assessment of customer respiratory needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriate equipment and/or services provided to meet those needs.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Documents the order for respiratory equipment and/or services from the referral source, physician, customer, family member, or caregiver. Collects additional information and/or authorization if referral is from other than the physician.
Assesses the need of the customer and the best choice of equipment and/or services to meet those needs, involving the customer, family, and/or caregiver in the selection process.
Acts as a liaison between the company and the customer, family, caregiver, physician and other health care agencies and staff on the case.
Instructs customer in the proper use and care of the equipment according to the written policies and procedures for that equipment. Educates oxygen patients on their disease process and purpose/benefit of oxygen therapy as part of their treatment to help improve compliance to physician orders.
Communicates with the customer's physician on changes in the customer's condition and/or needs and carries out adjustment to the customer's Plan of Care/Treatment.
Completes customer accounts paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment, Equipment Contact forms and assessments, and discharge plans for respiratory customers as needed per policy.
Qualifications: Education: Proof of a current Respiratory Therapist license, in good standing, in the State local to the requisition. Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Physical Requirements:

Thorough knowledge and skill related to respiratory care field.

🚀 The Role: Respiratory Therapist
As a Respiratory Therapist at Binson's, you'll deliver compassionate, hands-on care to patients in both retail and home settings, helping them breathe easier and live better. From setting up PAP equipment to providing ongoing support and education, you'll play a key role in improving respiratory health and patient confidence.
🔍 What We're Looking For
Registered or registry-eligible with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Licensed Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
A positive attitude and a genuine love for patient care
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
🛠 What You'll Be Doing
Set up patients with PAP therapy and provide instruction on usage of the equipment
Set up and support ventilator supplies
Educate patients and caregivers on respiratory equipment and safety
Provide top-notch respiratory care in both home and retail settings
Conduct follow-up visits and check-ins with our oxygen therapy patients
Be the go-to for all things respiratory-whether it's troubleshooting equipment or offering guidance
Recommend oral/tracheal hygiene and help manage trach care
On-call coverage to make sure no breath is left behind after hours
Work closely with patients, caregivers, and your amazing Binson's teammates to ensure smooth care
Help verify insurance and coordinate financial details with patients
