Position Summary:
· Provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
· Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
· Implements and monitors patient care plan. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
· Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
· Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
· Assesses patient's conditions in order to identify the most appropriate mode of therapy.
· Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of therapy, suggesting alternatives when appropriate.
· Maintains infection control policies related to patient care.
· Understands and demonstrates competency on all equipment utilized.
· Performs baseline pulmonary function screening and weaning parameters.
· Understands and safely administers medications related to respiratory diseases.
· Other Duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to start date.
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Completion of a Respiratory Care Program.
1 year of experience preferred. Will consider new graduate.

Brief Description of Duties:
All Respiratory Care Practitioners work under the supervision of the Director and/or the Associate Director(s) of the Department and are responsible for performing various basic and advanced respiratory procedures that include, although are not limited to, the following: Intubation, arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, mechanical ventilator management of adult, pediatric and neonatal patients in the following areas: Surgical, Medical, Burn, Pediatric, Neonatal, Cardiac Surgery and Anesthesia Post-Op Intensive Care Units. Incumbent will perform other pertinent respiratory therapy and patient care duties as required.
Qualifications
Required : Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy. Certificate of completion from an approved therapist level Respiratory Therapy Program. Registered Respiratory Therapist. 0-1 year experience. Current NYS Therapist License which is required under NYS Law.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

Overview
We currently have an outstanding opportunity for Respiratory Therapists to join our team, in caring for medically fragile and complex pediatric patients and residents. Blythedale's Respiratory Therapy Department is known for its collaborative and evidence-based approach. Our team of experienced respiratory therapists and residents provides excellent quality care 24/7. We pride ourselves on innovation and excellence, continually seeking the newest technologies and adhering to current clinical guidelines.
Sign-on bonus: Full time respiratory therapists are eligible for a $6,000 sign-on bonus. (This amount is pro-rated for part time RTs. Per diem RTs not eligible for the bonus.)
Position is also eligible for $4/hour night shift differential and critical shift bonus.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality respiratory care to pediatric patients with complex medical needs.
Serve as a consultant to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
Ensure that care delivery and clinical protocols reflect evidence-based practices.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in ongoing departmental education and training.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years' experience rendering direct professional cardio pulmonary care in a hospitalor healthcare setting, pediatric experience preferred.
Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) preferred.
Long Term Care experience preferred.
New Graduates with RRT will be considered with References from at least two clinical instructors.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle a variable workload.
Working knowledge of computerized software programs.
Night shift schedule (1900 - 0730), variable schedule, includes weekends, 2 on-call shifts per month, and rotating holidays.
Education, Licensure, and Certification
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Respiratory Therapy; Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) preferred.
Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license.
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the NBRC.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association.
Physical Requirements
On feet most of day patient care/moving high pressure cylinders/equipment.
Lifts supplies/equipment.
Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to maintain the airway and manually ventilate the patient during Code Blue.

Requirements
Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory School and must have CRTT or RRT licensure in the state of NY and in good standing.
Current CPR certification.
Must be willing to get cross-licensed in other states at the company's expense.
Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance in good standing.
At least 2 years' experience as a working Respiratory Therapist is preferred. Experience in the home setting is highly desirable.
Must have adequate PC skills to use e-mail and update notes and other documentation electronically in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities, included but not limited to:
Provides patients and family members with timely and accurate information and takes appropriate corrective actions regarding our services to ensure complete satisfaction.
Ability to initiate and develop good working relationships with patients, family members and referral sources is essential.
Ensures that the team plans daily events so as to be as efficient as possible with time management (e.g., minimizes travel time by planning routes ahead of time).
Assists with the proper scheduling of set ups and follow up visits according to company policies and standards.
Works closely with the RT Clinical Liaisons in coordinating patient discharges.
Ability to properly triage problems in the field in accordance with company standards and other verbal and written training policies.
Ensures that the team follows proper procedures for accurate and timely documentation of patient concerns, and most importantly, takes appropriate corrective actions.
Maintains strong knowledge of PromptCare's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures that they are applied consistently.
Ensures that the team maintains compliance to all applicable laws, regulations and SOPs at all times Fosters a culture wherein the team conducts activities with a mindset of delivering “white glove” service to the patients and family members.
Submits expense reports for travel at least once monthly and in a timely manner.
On-call responsibilities as needed.
Physical Demands
This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, and climbing all day. Lift and/or move 30 pounds or more.
