Provides routine clinical care including ventilator checks, tracheostomy care, suctioning, resident evaluations, care plan development, respiratory medication delivery, supply changes and equipment management.
Treat residents according to the physician treatment plan.
Communicate with physician, supervisor, and other team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans.
Instruct residents' families and/or nursing staff in maintenance, routine or restorative programs.
Initiates, monitors, and maintains life support systems.
Monitors outcomes of various respiratory care procedures.
Establishes and maintains respiratory equipment par-level and required maintenance records.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunction.
Conducts quality assurance audits and quality control monitoring.
Participate in discharge planning.
Qualifications:
A Certified RT.

Summary Description: The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for overseeing respiratory care under the orders of the Medical Director. Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.

Education:
A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.

Job Summary
Performs all aspects of direct respiratory care according to physicianï ½s orders and/or approved protocols. Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy and makes appropriate recommendations. Provides appropriate ventilator support and maintains and monitors other cardiopulmonary life support equipment. Maintains and properly utilizes respiratory care equipment.
Essential Functions
Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each and can conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding the purpose and benefits, and possible effects associated with each. Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators and is aware of the critical care duties and effects of such therapy.
Independently evaluates current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols, making proper recommendations concerning plans of care and patient education needs.
Documents therapy and results as required by hospital, department and regulatory agencies. Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Initiates, conducts and modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting. Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis with a thorough understanding of the values, and the importance and treatment of abnormal results.
Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care whenever possible. Is proficient in the electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
Follows departmental safety guidelines. Completes all regulatory requirements. Completes annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures.
Physical Requirements
Requires repetitive physical activity. Able to walk and stand to perform duties. Ability to lift materials 20-50 pounds. Ability to move patients of all age groups. Adequate hearing and eyesight is necessary. Exposures to working environment that may include odors, low lighting, and crowded working conditions.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care. Associateï ½s RRT or RRT Equivalent required, Bachelors degree preferred. Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support for healthcare providers thru the American Heart Association. Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards. For free-standing Emergency Department and Virtual Critical Care, 2 years critical care experience required.

Duties and responsibilities
* Educate patients in proper use and care of respiratory equipment, primarily PAP equipment in both the office and home settings. PAP education/instruction may also be performed as either Virtual (TeleHealth) In-Home or Virtual In-office visits.
* Utilize SleepGlad software for mask fittings according to Baxter Management policies and procedures.
* Inform the physicians and appropriate others of the changes in the patient's condition/status through reports and email, fax and telephone communications.
* Assist in resolving patient therapy and equipment problems.
* Perform troubleshooting and required maintenance checks on PAP related equipment, bag and tag and enter into Brightree according to Baxter Management policy.
* Document/complete timely and accurately all therapy and patient interactions into Brightree along with appropriate paperwork according to Baxter Management policy.
* Assist compliance team with achieving Baxter Management patient compliance goals.
* Maintain PAP pick up rates in accordance with Baxter Management goals.
* Deliver patient care in a professional and courteous manner meeting the customer services standards according to Baxter Management policy.
* Provide patient equipment and supplies according to the physicians' prescription while achieving Baxter Management goals and standards for same equipment and supplies
* Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.

We are looking for a patient focused, compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) who provides preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services under the direction of a provider or by protocols.

· Instructs customers and / or care givers on infection control procedures and are in compliance with internal and external regulations.
· Coordinates and/or completes all equipment maintenance management records as required by the organization.
· Coordinates and assists with obtaining all prescriptions and / or Certificate of Medical Necessity forms required for internal and external policies and regulations and for billing to insurance companies. Conducts or arranges in-service for staff relating to respiratory equipment services.
· Gather any needed customer or insurance information as required.
· Provides on-call services as required by the company.
