This job provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support services to both in-patients and outpatients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. This job also coordinates the overall provision of respiratory care, plans, develops and implements respiratory care programs; sets up all types of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy as ordered by physicians, educates the patient on proper and safe use of equipment; monitors patient compliance data and conducts patient and physician follow-up on patients as per Departmental Policy and Procedures.

Education

Certifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
Knowledge of respiratory equipment
Reliable transportation to travel to patient homes to setup/monitor respiratory equipment
Ability to be on-call for patients needs
Job Duties
Sets up Respiratory and PAP therapy equipment in the Post Acute Setting
Reviews and documents all pertinent information regarding each patient
Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans
Participates in process improvement initiatives and resolves patient issues
Communicates with physicians and serves as a resource on Respiratory Therapy in the Post Acute Setting
Monitors patient compliance to therapy and makes recommendations when needed
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style

* Identifies need for Pulse Ox testing to recertify or qualify O2 services per insurance regulations.
* Complete all company, insurance, and/or government-provided paperwork timely and entirely. Included, but not limited to; Delivery tickets, safety checklist forms, patient booklet receipts, ABNs, AMAs, equipment-specific instruction/cleaning forms, etc.
* Initiate, maintain and perform follow-up calls or visits with patients.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and simple repair as required by company policy or manufacturer's guidelines.
* Assist with customer equipment problems during business/non-business hours and under emergency situations. Troubleshoot all equipment failures calmly and patiently.
* Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
* Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary: The Multiskilled Tech I performs technical and clerical duties associated with the care and treatment of patients.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
* Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and development stage.
* Assist with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm.
* Obtains and records vital signs, I/O's, weights, basic ECG monitoring, venipuncture's, bedside testing, and documents in the patients record as directed by the licensed personnel.
* Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required.
* Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients.
* Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established PAR levels.
* Performs clerical functions (fax, copier, computer, printer; insurance coding, patient charges, and telephone).
* Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed.
* Maintains a safe, clean work environment.
