Summary:

* Responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, understanding ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring, understanding blood work results, monitoring, teaching, and training.
* The Seasonal Staffing program provides a temporary opportunity for the employee to work a minimum of 36 hours (typically 3-12-hour shifts) per week for a 12-week commitment period at a Seasonal Agreement rate of pay. Once the initial commitment period has exhausted the employee can extend the agreement up to an additional 12 weeks in 4-week increments. The employee's status during this period will be Per Diem and ineligible for benefits. At the end of the Seasonal Agreement the employee may has the option, based on current job openings, to change status to full-time, part-time, or per diem. The employee may be required to float between units.

Job Summary:
A registered respiratory therapist assesses and treats patients with breathing disorders, such as but not limited to asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia. They administer respiratory treatments, conduct diagnostic test, and educate patients on breathing techniques and equipment use. Additionally, they collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical diploma in Respiratory Therapy is required. Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
Graduate for an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program
Current license with the Arkansas State Medical Board and Registered through the Nation Board of Respiratory Care RRT credential required
Regulatory Requirements: BLS required upon hire or before patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire, PALS/NRP preferred
Strong communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and other respiratory therapists
Assess patient needs and adjust treatment plans as necessary
Must be self motivated, have the ability to work independently, maintain a high level of accuracy, and have the ability to handle confidential material

How you'll contribute
The Respiratory Therapist, reporting to the Respiratory Market Director, is a non-exempt position requiring critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment. The role involves delivering routine therapy as delegated, responding to codes and emergent calls, assessing patient conditions, and administering appropriate treatments. The therapist monitors, records, and communicates patient status while educating patients and families on illnesses and available community resources. Responsibilities also include managing respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, maintaining equipment, and performing regular cleaning, sterilization, and preventive maintenance. The position requires adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, and the application of relevant policies and procedures. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
