PURPOSE/BELIEF STATEMENT:
The position of Respiratory Therapist provides direct respiratory therapy care to the residents. This position must work effectively with team members in ensuring that work is accomplished and quality care is delivered, supporting their team members and celebrating team successes. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare respiratory therapy equipment and resident for transportation, both internally and externally.
Change equipment, as well as disinfect and sterilize it, in accordance to facility policy and procedure.
Conduct blood gas analysis.
Provide artificial airway management.
Perform aerosolized drug administration.
Provide oxygen therapy.
Provide humidity therapy.
Provide CPAP therapy.
Perform pulse oximetry.
Perform capnography.
Perform specialized pulmonary function testing.
Perform intermittent positive pressure ventilation.
Perform incentive spirometry.
Conduct patient assessment.
Administrative functions: Perform all charting and documentation duties as necessary.
Create a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents and assure that their needs are met.
Ensure that resident's food service needs are met in a timely and compassionate manner.
Maintain resident documentation records for activities of daily living, restorative programs, and resident specific forms.
Maintain and work within established departmental, center, and corporate policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Attend and participate in scheduled training, educational classes, and orientation programs to maintain certification and enhance quality of care.
Perform other related activities as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must possess, as a minimum, a limited permit and be enrolled in a CRTT or RT NBRC approved program, or must be a Registered, Certified Respiratory Therapist.
High school graduate or G. E. D. equivalent

Consistently demonstrates ability to adequately complete all documentation and charting procedures in compliance with ACHC and company policy and procedures.
Reviews Plan of Treatments and Care Plans to assure they are accurate and up to date.
Documents procedures including how the patient tolerated a procedure, side effects and other pertinent information.
Assists with authorization for CPAP/BiPAP referrals for patients.
Shows adequate knowledge of respiratory equipment and displays ability to utilize knowledge in the clinical setting.
Demonstrates ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment in the field successfully.
Maintains inventory control of CPAP/BiPAP supplies for sleep center.
Displays knowledge of assessment skills and demonstrates application of clinical skills during set-ups, follow-ups, and in-services.
Participates in discharge planning of highly technical cases.
Performs clinical assessments as needed and reports results and recommendations to the referral and physician.
Participates in highly technical discharges and prepares in advance to assure the patient and caregivers have a smooth transition to the home setting.
Performs in-services to hospital staff, referrals, other professionals regarding equipment & issues of clinical nature.

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. You'll perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while managing invasive and noninvasive ventilation across a variety of care settings. Your role will include:
* Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
* Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
* Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
* Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
* Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.
What qualifications you will need:
* Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
