Administers physician-prescribed treatment/testing to patients in all clinical areas according to physician order and/or department policy and procedure. Administered services include, but are not limited to, therapeutic gases, aerosol and humidity therapy, positive pressure breathing treatment (IPPB/CPAP), deep breathing exercises, airway care, including tracheobronchial aspiration and other procedures, and postural drainage and percussion/vibration to aid in secretion removal.
Performs physician-ordered arterial blood sample collection and performs subsequent analysis on an arterial blood gas analyzer for oxygen, carbon dioxide, pH, and oxygen saturation levels.
Establishes, monitors, and adjusts ventilator management of the critically ill patient requiring mechanical ventilation, under the direction of a physician and/or established physician protocol.
Provide complete and accurate documentation according to department policies for performed services.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
Confers with physicians, Manager, Clinical Services, and shift supervisor in regard to patient respiratory care plans, providing information pertaining to effectiveness of therapy and recommendation for changes in therapy.
Can receive, perform and document oral orders from physicians pertaining to respiratory care.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to respiratory technicians and respiratory care assistants.
Confers directly with patients in their provision of therapy and patient assessment providing the patient with explanations and information as required.
Provides the administration of topic anesthesia to patients have bronchoscopies performed. Assists physician with study as required.
Performs other related duties as required, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acting as charge therapist when required, supervising and providing clinical instruction to respiratory therapy students, and assisting in the orientation of new employees.
Participates in the on-call responsibilities for this position as required.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPR certification.
Certification as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (or hold a temporary permit) by the PA State Board of Medicine.
Graduate AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program. Individual must be registered or registry eligible.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One (1) year of neonatal intensive care experience.
One (1) year of arterial gas punctures.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join the Kindred Havertown team on a full-time day shift basis. This role supports a high-acuity LTAC patient population and is ideal for respiratory therapists with strong acute care or LTAC experience who are confident managing ventilators, trachs, and complex pulmonary conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care to LTAC and step-down patients
Manage mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy
Perform patient assessments and respond promptly to changes in respiratory status
Monitor, document, and evaluate patient progress in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize respiratory treatment plans
Ensure respiratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety standards
Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and care plans as appropriate
Requirements
Active RRT credential from NBRC (CRT not accepted)
Active Pennsylvania Respiratory Care Practitioner License
Minimum 2 years of recent acute care or LTAC experience preferred
Strong experience with ventilators and tracheostomy management
Current BLS required; ACLS preferred
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity LTAC environment

About the position
Completes routine audits to assure accurate and timely documentation in Cerner and UDS in order to meet compliance standards.
Assists the Nurse Manager in annual evaluations by providing feedback on clinical performance.
Identifies educational opportunities for the nursing staff based on clinical needs identified and verbalized by nursing staff.
Educates and monitors all staff regarding accurate and complete respiratory documentation.
Assists in respiratory education for licensed nursing staff.
Acts as key player in daily stand up clinical meeting to communicate/identify patient status.
Acts as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses in caring for respiratory patients in the facility.
Assists nursing staff with patient/family teaching needs. Coordinates educational resources to help decrease readmissions to acute care hospital within 30 days of discharge.
Provides Cerner documentation/orientation training for all new licensed nursing personnel.
Conducts remediation sessions for nursing staff with identified documentation deficiencies.
Participates in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI).
Ensures the nursing department staff performs all aspects of respiratory patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
Assures and assists with nursing participation in interdisciplinary team conferences.
Performs timely and accurate respiratory assessments.
May need to take a partial or full assignment based on staffing matrix.
Other duties as assigned.

Respiratory Support Technician

* Initiate, maintain and perform follow-up calls or visits with patients.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and simple repair as required by company policy or manufacturer's guidelines.
* Assist with customer equipment problems during business/non-business hours and under emergency situations. Troubleshoot all equipment failures calmly and patiently.
* Report equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control, and hazardous materials handling.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
