Responsibilities: * Mechanical ventilator initiation and management. * Insertion and/or care of artificial airways. * Patient assessment, medication administration and recommendation for therapy, interpretation of clinical data. * Airway clearance and bronchoscopy assist as appropriate. * Participation in the Rapid Response Team, Code Team, Trauma Team, and Sepsis Team as applicable by member. * Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds in critical care areas and participate in education of students/other staff. * Protect patients or staff members using safety equipment. * Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. * Other Duties. Other Information: * Maine State professional license and meet the current license eligibility requirements of the NBRC. * BLS certification to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients and kept current. * Registered Respiratory Therapist credential. Credentials * Required Respiratory Therapist Education * Required Associate's Degree* Graduate of a 2-year associate degree NBRC approved Respiratory Therapy program. * Preferred Education: 4-year Baccalaureate Degree NBRC approved Respiratory Therapy program. Working Conditions * Lifting, moving and loading 30 to 50 pounds. * Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various units, including NICU, PICU, acute care pediatrics, and emergency departments, as well as adult acute and critical care settings. This role requires expertise in managing different ventilation equipment and a commitment to patient-centered care in a challenging environment. Responsibilities Deliver respiratory therapy treatments as per physician orders. Monitor and assess patient respiratory status and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Float to other units as needed, providing flexibility and support across the facility. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Minimum of 3 years of experience in a tertiary, teaching hospital, Level 1 trauma center. BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred. NRP certification is required for NICU responsibilities.
