Responsibilities: Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, airway management, and mechanical ventilation as prescribed. Conduct pulmonary diagnostic procedures, such as pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas collection, and spirometry. Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Implement physician orders and ensure timely delivery of respiratory care interventions. Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly in the medical record. Monitor and adjust respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and patient safety. Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding respiratory care and treatment plans. Maintain knowledge of current respiratory care practices and participate in continuing education. Serve as Lead RCP in the absence of a supervisor, overseeing department operations and coordinating staff workflow. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance improvement activities. Qualifications: Education and Work Experience State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. 2 years? experience as a RCP preferred. Reports changes in the patient's respiratory status to the Director/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the nurse primarily responsible for the patient, and the physician, as needed, and prior to leaving the facility Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility. Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of this position. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Supervisory Requirements This position has no supervisor responsibilities Qualification Education and/or Experience Must possess, as a minimum, an Associate Degree from an accredited school. Must be a Graduate of a respiratory care program. Bachelor of Science degree in the health care field preferred. Minimum of one (1) year respiratory experience in an acute and/or subacute unit preferred. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a Current Respiratory Care Practitioner verification license for the state in which he/she practices (if applicable). Must hold a current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications. Must have knowledge of office machines and equipment.
