Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment in Salt Lake City, Utah. Required Qualifications:
One year of recent experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC
Valid respiratory therapy license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications:
ACLS or PALS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Summary:
A Registered Respiratory Therapist provides advanced respiratory care to patients with complex pulmonary disorders and critical illnesses. They independently assess, treat, and manage patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including those in intensive care units and emergency situations. RRTs work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams to deliver life-saving therapies and patient-centered care.
Essential Work Functions:
Collaborate with physicians to develop patient treatment plans
Examine and interview patients with breathing and/or cardiopulmonary disorders
Perform diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity or collecting blood/sputum samples
Treat patients through various methods including chest physiotherapy and aerosol medications
Set up and monitor equipment to ensure the patient is receiving the correct amount of oxygen at the correct rate
Observe and record patient status and progress
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate patient care
Educate patients and/or family members on how to properly take medication and use equipment
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of RRT practice
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
Physical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
Interpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
Technical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
Sensory - Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff and takes appropriate actions. Participates in departmental meetings, contributing ideas or feedback.
Promotes the profession of Respiratory Care and acts as a resource, consultant, and mentor to staff within department and patient care areas through development of others.
Participates in quality improvement and research activities as part of the Respiratory Care Team to guide the development of standards of patient care.

Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required.
Specific certifications PALS, ACLS, NRP are required.

The Respiratory Therapist RRT- iFlex (RRTi) is part of Intermountain's internal travel agency for assignments. RRTi caregivers are expected to float if not needed at assigned facility. The RRTi provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients designed to diagnose, evaluate, treat, manage, and control deficiencies or abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system within the prescription of the ordering physician.
It is expected that the RRTi will support system wide and respiratory care initiatives and practices. The RRTi will maintain compliance with all policy, procedure and guidelines.

This job is right for you if you have the flexibility to travel to Intermountain's different locations in Utah and Idaho for 8-13 week assignments (The assignments are Full-Time / 36-40 hours weekly.) You must feel comfortable working in multiple units within your specialty.
Pay and living stipend will be competitive with local and national travel Respiratory Therapists rates. We will evaluate pay and living stipend every quarter and adjust based on market trends. Each assignment will have a consistent pay rate but can change when a new assignment is given.
For assignments greater than 50 miles from the employee's home, housing reimbursable amounts are determined by the assigned site location and receipts are required to be submitted within 30 days of transaction date. The caregiver is responsible for finding their own housing during each travel assignment.
All iFlex employees will be expected to travel to all geographies and able to work at all Intermountain sites. The management team will work with each Therapist on assignments and will take all preferences and needs into consideration.
Qualifications:
Flat Rate: $75.00 hourly
Hours: Full-Time (36-40 hours weekly)- Initial Assignment will be Primary Children's Hospital both at the SLC and the Lehi campus.

Housing Reimbursement: If working 50 miles or greater from your home, housing reimbursable amounts are determined by the assigned site location and receipts are required to be submitted within 30 days of transaction date.

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
* You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
* You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
* You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
* You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
* You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
* You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
What qualifications you will need:
* Basic Cardiac Life Support, or (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
* Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
* PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides instruction to patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of equipment and/or respiratory care procedures.
Ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment. Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs.
Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on individual needs.
May need to perform on-call duties as needed.
Provides and operates various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
Responsible for accurate data entry on monitoring websites for certain respiratory equipment
Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition, home environment, and Plan of Care.
Participates in ongoing education and training sessions regarding respiratory patient care.
Assist with patient scheduling as needed.
Performs other duties as required.

Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
Work closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop a holistic care plan for respiratory patients.
Attend multidisciplinary care meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment goals, and necessary adjustments.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring they understand treatment plans and ongoing care needs.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatments, medications, and progress in accordance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
Ensure proper documentation for insurance billing, treatment plans, and patient updates.
Record patient responses to treatments, including vital signs, oxygen saturation, and any adverse reactions or complications.
Equipment Management:
Set up and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, such as mechanical ventilators, nebulizers, and oxygen delivery devices.
Ensure that all respiratory equipment is properly calibrated, clean, and functioning according to safety standards.
Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on respiratory equipment as needed.
Professional Development and Continuing Education:
Participate in continuing education opportunities to stay current with new techniques, equipment, and best practices in respiratory therapy.
Obtain and maintain certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Stay updated on new advancements in respiratory care, including new technologies, medications, and treatment protocols.

Responsibilities
Performs respiratory therapy with an understanding of the indications, contraindications, hazards, and precautions associated with all delivered therapy.
Assesses the pulmonary status of patients receiving respiratory care and makes recommendations for therapy.
Administers medical gases, aerosolized medications, and provides therapies to maintain bronchopulmonary hygiene per protocol.
Supports ventilator dependent patients during intra-hospital transport.
Sets up, maintains and monitors mechanical ventilatory support.
Performs airway clearance and lung volume expansion therapies and instructs patients regarding follow-up care.
Functions as a member of the cardiac arrest, trauma, and other emergency teams as indicated.
Attends and participates in physician led patient rounds, as appropriate.
May perform ECGs, ABGs, venipuncture, and other pulmonary or cardiovascular procedures as needed.
May provide therapist driven protocol assessments, smoking cessation education, and sleep testing as needed.

Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board of Respiratory Care
