The RT Vent Field Clinician is a Respiratory Therapist providing respiratory patient care to Vent patients for optimal outcomes. Provides respiratory care to patients in alternate sites in accordance with AdaptHealths policies and procedures. Respiratory care will be preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative in nature. The RT will utilize all the resources available within the agency and community to accomplish care objectives. This position will provide education and care to the patient and communicate with team, physicians and referral sources and other patient agencies ensuring prompt attention to patient care issues.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
Utilizes various sources of information to attain greater competence about his or her position, including attending educational events (including attending optional in-services) and asking questions.
Utilizes acquired knowledge to increase his or her competencies.
Consistently demonstrates ability to adequately complete all documentation and charting procedures in compliance with company policy and procedures.
Maintains complete and accurate patient files by updating all documents per company policy and procedures.
Reviews Plan of Treatments and Care Plans to assure they are accurate and up to date.
Documents procedures including how the patient tolerated a procedure, side effects and other pertinent information.
Assists with authorization for Ventilator referrals for patients.
Shows adequate knowledge of respiratory equipment and displays ability to utilize knowledge in the clinical setting.

Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Polysomnographer provides comprehensive respiratory care and sleep diagnostic services to patients at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. The RRT will perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, support life-saving interventions, and conduct polysomnographic sleep studies under the direction of the Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Primary Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Perform full night and split-night polysomnograms, sleep staging, CPAP/BIPAP/APAP setup, and titration.
Administer therapeutic gases (oxygen, nitric oxide) and inhaled medications.
Set up, monitor, and manage all ventilators and modes of mechanical ventilation.
Assist with intubation and airway management.
Provide chest physiotherapy (manual and with Vest system) and postural drainage.
Respond to rapid response calls and assist in resuscitation (must have current BLS certification; ACLS preferred).
Maintain accurate and detailed logs and patient records (manual/electronic).
Perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis.
Deliver patient and family education regarding respiratory therapies.
Ensure compliance with VA protocols, The Joint Commission standards, and HIPAA requirements.
Minimum Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

We are currently hiring a Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCPII) who will be responsible for providing cardiopulmonary care services in accordance with specific physician's orders, department policies and procedures. Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Manager, the Respiratory Therapist II ensures that all patient care and family related interactions are performed with sensitivity to the developmental needs, psycho-social issues and safety of the pediatric, adult and geriatric patient populations served.
In addition, the RCP II will be responsible for the following:
Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each.
Performs EKGs, sends reports to physicians who requested them, and files reports in department, according to department procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the differences in techniques and treatment modalities as performed on patients of varying ages.
Follows the five (5) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
