Performs PFT testing, EKGs, and Stress testing, special procedures and reports results in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with the discharge planning process, i.e., set up home care and participate in discharge planning meeting with the patient care team.
Performs diagnostic tests such as simple spirometry, pulmonary function, and pulse oximetry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
Provide instructions to patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of equipment and/or respiratory care procedures via in person or electronic means (Telehealth). Ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment.
Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs.
Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
Responsible for accurate data entry on monitoring websites for certain respiratory equipment.
Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition, home environment, compliance with treatment and Plan of Care.
Responsible for routine patient follow-up, which may occur in person and/or via Telehealth.
Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements; physical abuse of any family member, unsafe home environment for care ordered, unsanitary conditions or animals causing such, or insufficient food for children.
Respond to critical situations as appropriate, during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.

Position Summary
Provides respiratory therapy to patients are ordered by physicians. Performs all types of Respiratory Care including diagnostic testing, treadmills, complete PFTs, ABG machine maintenance, and Hemodynamics. Performs all types of general floor therapies and procedures required in the specialty areas, i.e. ICU, PACU, etc. Performs assessment and treatment of the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient. Ability to precept and train staff, students, and orientees.
Plan and organize workload. Monitors work assignments, rescheduling, cancellations and coordinating workflow with staff members. Re-adjusts workload appropriately.
Performs diagnostic tests such as simple spirometry, pulmonary function, and pulse oximetry. Performs arterial line insertions following appropriate training and certification.
Carries out treatment needs by patient that is age appropriate. Administers all modes of routine respiratory care services, i.e. SVN, IPPB therapy, all O2 therapies. Completes/documents patient care assessment and response to therapy
Performs PFT testing, EKGs, EEGs and stress testing and reports results in an accurate and timely manner. Assist with the discharge planning process, i.e., set up home care and participate in discharge planning meeting with the patient care team.
Participates in the decision-making process of the department, staff meeting attendance, committee participation, etc.
