The work will be challenging, but always rewarding. **It's Work That Matters.** **Overview** **Purpose Statement/Position Summary:** The Respiratory Care Practitioner, under direct supervision, conducts patient assessments, assists with the development of the plan of care, provides and evaluates general, basic patient care with assistance to an assigned group of patients according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs. Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment. The Respiratory Care Team is accountable for delivering high-quality, evidence-based respiratory therapy to pediatric patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, including critical care, pulmonary diagnostics, and sleep lab services. We support CHLA's mission to create hope and build healthier futures by ensuring safe, compassionate, and innovative care. **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** 1+ year experience as a CHLA RCP I, or 2+ years critical care experience as an RCP. Experience with pediatric patients. Broad knowledge of respiratory care principles and equipment; CHLA patient care policies and procedures. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing. Preferred experience: Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred), prior experience in a children's hospital setting, interest in professional development and quality improvement initiatives. **Education/Licensure/Certifications:** Graduate of an A.M.A, and CoARC accredited School of Respiratory Care. RCP license from the state of California. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the NBRC. Current American Heart Association BLS, PALS, ACLS required.
