Fulfills staff meeting, in-service, competency and on-going education requirements.
Ensures safe and appropriate oxygen administrations through the Oxygen Therapist Driven Protocol.
Performs non-invasive SpO2monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous and spot checks.
Administers all therapy modalities to patients per physician orders.
Performs VEST therapy.
Performs basic operations on the Meditech system.
Sets up and operates CPAP/Bi-Level therapy.
Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
Adheres to established blood gas quality control protocol.
Performs trouble-shooting and maintenance of Blood Gas Machine as a Super User.
Responds and participates in all code blue situations.
Sets up and monitors NIPPV (non-invasive positive pressure ventilation) through both Bi-Level and Volume ventilation.
Initiates, operates and monitors Adult mechanical ventilators.
Assists in bedside therapeutic bronchoscopies.
Initiates, operates and monitors Nitric Oxide therapy.
Initiates, operates and monitors Heliox therapy.
Precepts new employees or staff members entering into a new area of training.
Performs bedside spirometry.
Performs Metabolic testing for spontaneously breathing and artificially ventilated patients.
Performs intubations as needed as a member of the Code Blue team.
EDUCATION
Vocational School Graduate (Respiratory Therapy) - Required
Associates Degree - Preferred
EXPERIENCE
One year critical care experience. - Required
One year NICU/PICU experience. Knowledge and experience in basic floor care and mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, capnography and oximetry equipment. - Preferred

Job Summary:
The Respiratory Care Practitioner I is responsible for providing respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. Performs all respiratory care procedures including but not limited to oxygen and aerosolized medication delivery, ventilator care, bronchial hygiene therapy, diagnostic services and patient and staff education. Monitors the patient's response to such therapies and makes recommendations to change or modify based on the assessment.
Essential Functions:
May serve as a preceptor to new team members and/or students.
Assesses patient's physical status by inspection, palpation, auscultation, percussion, patient behavior and reviewing existing data in patient's record.
Performs treatments according to physician orders, explains therapy and therapeutic goals to patient; modifies treatment procedures based on patient response.
Determines appropriateness of prescribed therapy and recommends methods to physician to achieve therapeutic goals including IPPB, Aerosol therapy, Postural drainage and percussion, ultrasonic nebulizer, incentive spirometry, metered dose inhalers and spacers, etc.
Sets up and maintains different modes of oxygen therapy, to maintain adequate PaO2's with accurate inspired levels of oxygen.
Administers intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB) or Aerosol Therapy by first preparing the prescribed medication ordered by the physician and adjusting the machine or device to accomplish patient's individual clinical needs; document and observe patient's vital signs, productivity of cough, relief of Dyspnea, improved breath sounds and any adverse reactions to therapy; and use judgement and technical skill to determine possible adverse reactions and suggestions for appropriateness of therapy.
Gives postural drainage, vibration, percussion to ensure proper drainage of bronchial secretions by use of manual or mechanical percussion; check orders and X-rays for segments to be treated prior to initiating treatment; auscultation prior to and after procedure to note presence of clearance of secretions and response to therapy.
Instructs patients and families in incentive spirometer, metered dose inhaler (MDI) administration, postural drainage and clapping, oxygen therapy, ventilator care and home aerosol therapy.
May assist doctor with bronchoscopy and tracheostomy; assists with tracheostomy endotracheal tube changes; ensures proper humidification.
Procurement of sputum for culture and sensitivity or airway clearance either by patient coaching, administration of mucolytics, aerosol therapy or endotracheal / nasopharyngeal suctioning.
Evaluates normal and pathologic blood and urine laboratory value ranges.
Performs arterial punctures and analysis; has an in-depth knowledge of analysis and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation. Performs arterial line procedures, takes safety precautions, sterile procedure, flushing, and ABG aspirations.
May perform EKG's; understands electronic monitoring, lead placement, and basic arrhythmias.
Maintains all Respiratory Therapy equipment and supplies.
Responds to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and actively participates as indicated by clinical circumstances.

Position Summary
The Virtual Lead Therapist (VIOP) provides individual, group, and family therapy sessions via telehealth for clients enrolled in a Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program. This role includes direct clinical care, clinical supervision, program development, and coordination of care. The Virtual Lead Therapist serves as a primary clinical leader and liaison for clients, families, referral partners, and internal teams.
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct virtual group, individual, and family therapy sessions.
Assess client needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to clinicians and interns.
Support multi-state licensing expansion by assisting clinicians with onboarding, compliance, and best practices as the program grows into new states.
Provide clinical oversight of virtual groups and clinicians, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to evidence-based best practices across the VIOP.
Oversee group programming, curriculum, and scheduling.
Support program structure and scalable workflow development to ensure sustainable growth in a national telehealth environment.
Ensure timely and compliant documentation and utilization review.
Utilize clinical outcomes, engagement data, and quality metrics to inform program improvements and support data-driven decision-making.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from admission through discharge.
Facilitate clinical and quality oversight meetings.
Communicate progress with families and referral sources.

Qualifications

Position Overview
Establishes and manages basic and complex forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., HFO, NPPV, PRVC, transport) with high proficiency and minimal supervision.
Performs weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in greater than 90% of the ventilator patients. Develops or refines the ventilator care plan on a daily basis and communicates to appropriate members of the patient care team.
Collects specimens, performs basic and more complex diagnostic testing (e.g. blood gas, specimens, and sputums), and validates the quality of the results with high proficiency and minimal supervision.
Interprets diagnostic and monitoring data with high precision. Integrates routinely patient diagnostic data, response-to-therapy, and physiologic profile to create a plan-of-care that is sound and consistent with the department standard-of-care.
Uses effective time management in work organization and triaging. Handles consistently shift assignment without complaints or interventions. Performs consistently thorough, advanced cardiopulmonary clinical assessments, with appropriate inclusion of other systems (e.g., cardiovascular, nutritional, neurologic).
Administers basic and advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide, CNB Chest Wall Oscillation) with high proficiency and virtually no supervision.
Responds immediately to all Code Blue, RRT, Trauma and STATS at least 90% of the time.
Provides educational training to patient and/or family members as appropriate.
Communicates consistently with healthcare members on patient's care plan, in a manner consistent with organization standards.
Seeks actively ways to assist other members of the healthcare team and is recognized by peers and supervisory staff as collaborative and helpful. Receives at least one validated commendation from co-worker, physician, nurse, and supervisor during the evaluation year. Takes a role in training, education, orientation and student clinical time.
Applies departmental protocols and clinical practice guidelines with high precision and compliance when indicated, without supervision. Applies routinely new techniques and procedures with high proficiency within 30 days of training/orientation.
Understands the value, tools and performance indicators used in QI. Participates actively QI within department.
Documents accurately data for quality improvement processes with the department (i.e., Mar, Assessment, Reassessment and Care Plan).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Associate's Degree from an AMA Accredited Respiratory Therapy/Respiratory Therapist Program. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
Experience: Two years clinical experience preferred.
Other Credentials: AHA ACLS-Adv Cardiac Life Supp, AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, AHA NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation, Respiratory Care Practitioner
Knowledge and Skills: Critical thinking skills. Preceptor skills. Presentation and instructional techniques.
