Your Job Requirements: • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program • Current Basic Life Support certification required • Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required • NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support - must obtain within 1 year of hire • Currently licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care • At least 6 months respiratory care experience. Your Job Responsibilities: • Performs respiratory therapeutics to include oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation. • Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures to include arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms. • Prepares a treatment evaluation to include a bedside respiratory physical assessment, patient interview and a review of patient's medical record. • Perform appropriate actions using critical thinking skills. • Must be able to interpret the CXR, ABG, and PFT's when reviewing patient data. • Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots all cardiopulmonary equipment such as artificial airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, oxygen delivery devices and blood gas analyzers. • Participates in tasks related to infection control, safety and quality assurance. • Performs required cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas. • Utilizes appropriate customer scripting as evidenced by observation and improved patient satisfaction. • Perform other job duties as required Methodist Dallas Medical Center is one of North Texas' best places to work. If modification of a CT protocol is necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate parameters, etc. and document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Prioritizes exams with scheduling exams to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times and address stat and urgent requests. Ensure other resources have been scheduled accordingly. 2. Interviews patient (two patient identifier), conducts patient screening and obtains medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria. Explains procedure and instructs patient on necessary requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answers questions/screening concerning procedures and IV contrast for relevant exams. Assists the physician as needed in performing procedures. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling. 3. Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Administers contrast material in the correct dosage, route and observes patients for adverse reactions. 4. Performs post processing as indicated; may include but not limited to, 3-D rendering. Maintains patient confidentiality and ensures that all processes and procedures are maintained to secure and protect all workstations in all work areas. Identifies supply needs, monitors expiration dates of all supplies and takes appropriate action. 5. Responds to inquiries, calls, emails in a timely and professional manner. Communicates shift hand off regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams with oncoming staff. Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads. 6. JOB-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Administers medical gases, humidifiers, medications, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. • Provides basic patient education. • Follows verbal and written orders from physicians in administering drugs and medications to the cardiopulmonary system of patients. • Develops effective treatment plans. • Evaluates the treatment program and results and take appropriate action. • Performs basic assessments of Arterial Blood gases, Pulmonary Function Testing, EKG, and chest X-rays. • Performs basic interpretation of Arterial Blood gases, Pulmonary Function Testing, EKG, and chest x-rays. • Communicates with the Director of Respiratory, physicians, and other treatment team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans. • Participates as necessary in patient care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings. • Records clinical documentation according to accepted regulatory, corporate, and professional guidelines. • Records daily treatments and labor per corporate procedures. • Completes reports and documents treatments according to facility policies. • Participates in discharge planning. • Communicates and coordinates clinical services department functions with other departments to achieve cohesion and effectiveness. • Professionally present themselves when representing the facility. • Communicates with the Director of Respiratory Therapy regarding department programs, goals, objectives, problems, and successes. • With the assistance of the Director of Respiratory Therapy, resolve areas of concern or conflict with patients' families, co-workers, or external customers professionally, proactively, and courteously. • Complies with state regulations and national standards as they apply to the practice of Respiratory Therapy. • Communicates effectively with professional colleagues. • Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: • Graduate from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy EXPERIENCE: • Three years of experience in the environment and level of core in which performing duties • Six months of mechanical ventilation experience LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: • Current Certified Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Practice • Basic Life Support- American Heart Association • Pediatric Advanced Life Support • Advanced Cardiac Life Support • Must maintain current certification in good standing during employment with this facility
