+ Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care providing exceptional respiratory care for both our adult and pediatric patients.
+ Provide direct patient care respiratory services as assigned.
+ Provide essential respiratory care to patients focusing on ventilator management, ant trach care and other respiratory needs.
+ Set up, adjust, and manage patients on continuous mechanical ventilation which includes maintenance of airway patency, auctioning, stabilizing trach tubes, monitoring cuff pressures, etc.; ensuring ventilators are delivering proper volume, mode of ventilation, pressures, respiratory rates, and oxygen concentration. When indicated, wean patients from continuous ventilation according to established procedures.
+ Thoroughly and completely document all therapeutic and diagnostic activities and results in the patient's medical record.
+ Assess the appropriateness of the respiratory care ordered and discuss variances with primary physician when necessary.
+ Formulate an appropriate Respiratory Care plan based upon patient assessment; monitor and identify any problem regarding quality assurance; communicate effectively with all physicians utilizing respiratory care services in clinical area.
+ Participate in patient rounds in designated clinical area and serve as respiratory care resource person to other members of the health-care team; communicate changes in the respiratory care plan to other healthcare team members.
+ Explain treatment procedures to patients and/or family members to allay fears and elicit cooperation; ensure patient education regarding the pulmonary system.
+ Participate in meetings and conferences designed to expedite and improve delivery of respiratory care; participate in clinical in-service education and training concerning respiratory care policies and procedures.
+ Propose, develop, and help implement techniques, methodology, and treatment modalities related to respiratory care; assist in development of new clinical procedures in designated area.
+ Perform emergency and acute Respiratory Care procedures in accordance with service policy and procedures, responding to all cardiopulmonary arrest and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway care as needed. Identify the need for development of improved documentation forms as necessary.
+ Identify problem areas regarding department, staff, and patient safety.
+ Perform peer review of other therapists working in area of responsibility.
+ Provide input to supervisor regarding staffing, equipment, and supply needs.
+ Assemble, check, correct malfunctions, and perform quality controls on respiratory care equipment.
+ Maintain clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.

+ Graduation from an approved program in Respiratory Therapy; Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care Technology preferred.
+ Two years of relevant experience.
+ Credentialing and registration as required by state.
+ Ability to apply pediatric respiratory principles in the clinical setting.
+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required.
+ Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to problem solve.
+ PALS certification required (May complete after hire).

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
+ You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
+ You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
+ You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
+ You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
+ You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
+ You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

+ Assess customer-specific education needs and collaborate with staff to deliver a positive educational experience
+ Utilize clinical/nursing expertise to answer questions and address concerns with the medical device
+ Provide updates, reports, and valuable feedback to client during and after in-service assignments
+ Provide clinical and professional expertise to end users including RN staff, Physicians and other healthcare professionals in a setting without patient care

+ Serve as an education resource on the particular device
**Job Requirements - Registered Respiratory Therapists**
+ RRT License required
+ 3+ years ICU, ER, and/or Critical Care Unit experience within past 5 years required
+ Leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Educator, Preceptor) preferred
+ Must be comfortable with basic software programs
+ Experience working with IV pumps desired, but not required
+ Super-user/pump education experience desired, but not required

Ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment. Performs clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs.
Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on individual needs.

Provides and operates various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
Prepares and maintains a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation.
Responsible for accurate data entry on monitoring websites for certain respiratory equipment
Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition, home environment, and Plan of Care.
Participates in ongoing education and training sessions regarding respiratory patient care.
Assist with patient scheduling as needed.

Knowledge of legal, medical, and accreditation compliance

Able to lift 50 lbs, assist patients, and meet published physical demand norms

Build/retain professional physician/birthworker relationships with Practice 25 referral
Coordinate with the Office Manager to make sure Active Patient Reporting and Wellness Checks are being performed.
Engage physicians in external primary relationship-building interactions, including Reverse Referrals, Surgical Observations, In-clinic Shadowing, Return Patient Visits, and Empower University Events.
Will participate with internal practice building opportunities,including social media posts, Google reviews, Net Promoter Scores, short clinic videos, and reactivation campaigns on previously discharged patients.
Compliance
Ensure full compliance with state/federal regulations, medical standards, and accreditation.

**Essential Functions**
+ Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol. Obtains arterial gases. Oversees and troubleshoots the operation of equipment for optimal patient care. Initiates Respiratory Protocol according to department criteria. Initiates interventions based on the interpretation of assessments.
+ Administers medications in a timely and safe manner. Evaluates effect and re-evaluates appropriately and according to protocol. Ensures that progress of patient is communicated to staff, physicians and other departments.
+ Maintains awareness of assigned patient's overall condition. Communicates and shares patient information with the physicians and nurses. Makes appropriate recommendations for patient care. Recognizes the educational needs of patients and families in relation to health promotion and wellness. Teaches patients and families self-care techniques and modalities.
+ Completes documentation according to departmental standards. Accurately documents productivity information. Monitors supplies and equipment and notifies appropriate person when supplies are low, out on loan or broken. Utilizes time effectively to achieve productivity standard, including utilizing low census time when patient load does not support full productivity.
+ Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Identifies potential areas for improvement including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction. Identifies potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff and takes appropriate actions. Participates in departmental meetings, contributing ideas or feedback.
+ Promotes the profession of Respiratory Care and acts as a resource, consultant, and mentor to staff within department and patient care areas through development of others.Participates in quality improvement and research activities as part of the Respiratory Care Team to guide the development of standards of patient care.
+ May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
+ May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program is required. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
+ Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
+ Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice is required.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required.
+ Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP) is required.
+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
+ Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
+ Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
+ Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
+ May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
