Job Summary and Qualifications
A Certified Respiratory Therapist IV requires specialized training in respiratory care.
The respiratory therapist is responsible for respiratory procedures and equipment in the hospital. If that is you, come be a part of what makes us great and apply today!
Performs arterial puncture and ABG analysis upon department certification
Procurement, storage, handling, and dispensing of therapeutic gases
The Respiratory Therapist must be able to assess the patient's clinical condition and recommend appropriate therapy and to appropriately take steps in the case of an adverse reaction
Administer prescribed therapy in accordance to department protocols
Timely recognition of patient's condition whether improvement or deterioration
Administering and monitoring 02 therapy, aerosol, humidification, HHN, Surfactant, and oxy-hoods to the critically ill patients
Performs therapeutic percussion and vibration and bronchial drainage
Assists/performs intubation, nasal CPAP procedure upon hospital certification and maintains stabilization
What qualifications you will need:
High School Graduate / GED
Graduation of an AMA approved 1- or 2-year Respiratory Therapy Program
Current State of California RCP License
Current BCLS required
2-years' experience in an acute care setting
Min 1 year experience in critical care including ventilator care and emergency room
Min 1 year experience in level II or III NICU
Current NRP required
Current PALS required

Major Responsibilities:
• Uses Respiratory therapy processes to support assessment of patient utilizing a variety of skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes. Can identify and address the special needs of patient population specific to department services.
• Operates specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues. Assists physician with bedside or other procedures as applicable to facility.
• Provides medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient driven respiratory protocols as prescribed.
• Cleans, maintains, and ensures proper functionality of equipment. Troubleshoots equipment as necessary and identifies the need for service and/or repair.
• Educates and instructs patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
• Facilitates clinical problem solving and collaborates with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
• Under physician direction, the respiratory therapist must be able to adapt and comply to policies and procedures for a variety of different service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
• Demonstrates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Provides clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff.
• Promotes a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm. Reports patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner. Seeks to identify potential safety issues and assists in the implementation of corrective actions.
• Teaches, educates, and precepts new teammates, orientees, and students.
• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1, 2023.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required:
Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree.

**Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** 1+ year experience as a CHLA RCP I, or 2+ years critical care experience as an RCP. Experience with pediatric patients. Ability to assess effectiveness of patient care; maintain a calm demeanor and assist in crises and emergencies; prioritize tasks for complex patient care; communicate tactfully, professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Preferred experience: Bilingual skills (Spanish preferred), prior experience in a children's hospital setting, interest in professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
**Education/Licensure/Certifications:** Graduate of an A.M.A, and CoARC accredited School of Respiratory Care. RCP license from the state of California. • Washington State Certification
• Experience as an Respiratory Therapist
• Must pass all required Maxim screening tests with an 80% or greater
• Clear criminal background screening.
• Current BLS card
• Current TB results or chest x-ray
• Scrub Experience

Directly facilitates pulmonary care functions that expedite the patients work-up and follow-up in both the hospitals and clinics.
Essential Responsibilities:
Educate patients in a class room setting on various sleep disorders.
Instruct patients on home diagnostic sleep equipment.
Reading sleep studies and providing preliminary diagnosis to patients.
Instruct patients on the proper use of therapeutic equipment used for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and other home ventilatory support systems.
Process referrals to other sleep entities and healthy living providers.
Assists in the planning, development and implementation of respiratory care programs that coordinate high quality, cost-effective care for patients with COPD, hypoventilation, neuro-muscular disease, Sleep Apnea and all other sleep disorders.
Collaborates with managers, physicians and patient care staff to identify and resolve Sleep Disorder issues as well as Pulmonary Care Issues.
Conduct follow up consultations with CPAP users to ensure adherence or refer patients to alternative treatment.
Inform patients of the sleep physicians final results.
Provide case manager consultations to patients referred by the physicians.

Job Description
Perform set-up, operation and monitoring of ventilator when resident's respiratory system is incapable of adequate spontaneous ventilation
Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of residents with airway needs as required.
Receive/give report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours if assuming a direct care assignment.
Provide Oxygen Therapy; tank, tent, mask, cannula, walker, high flow, etc. respiratory care.
Coughing and deep breathing instruction and exercises and related maneuvers including, Incentive Spirometry.
Aerosol Therapy; Bland and Medicated, Metered dose, Ambient, Ultrasonic, Sputum Induction.
Chest therapy.
IPPB, CPAP, and BiPAP Therapy
Airway maintenance as to oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
ABG interpretation and analysis.
Consult with the physician and follow protocols for ventilator management including weaning, decannulation, and terminal weaning.
Perform assessment of the patient, determining needs related to the frequency and duration of the treatment regime ordered by the MD.
Request re-order when necessary and communicates with nurse and MD about discrepancies and concerns.
Initiate and follow through with protocols described in the policy and procedure manual and as approved by the department and medical/pulmonology director.
Interpret the respiratory department's policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.

Must Have an active and valid Respiratory Therapist License
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Full-Time or Per Diem

6:00am - 6:30pm
