**Job Summary**
The Respiratory Therapist - RRT is responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures, following physician orders. **Essential Functions**
+ Administers advanced respiratory treatments, performs assessments, and monitors patient responses to ensure effective care.
+ Orients patient to treatment modality prior to procedure in order to facilitate patient's cooperation and successful completion of the treatment process.
+ Performs and documents Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) punctures accurately, reporting results promptly.
+ Assists physicians with bedside procedures as assigned.
+ Performs testing procedures, such as pulmonary testing procedures, as assigned.
+ Follows respiratory protocols, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and regulatory standards during all procedures.
+ Communicates effectively with peers, healthcare staff, physicians, and leadership, ensuring timely information flow and follow-up on patient care concerns.
+ Evaluates and maintains respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring proper functioning, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards.
+ Accurately implements written or verbal physician orders, ensuring compliance with established respiratory care procedures.
+ Provides clear, legible, and thorough documentation of all respiratory treatments, assessments, and patient responses, maintaining compliance with policies.
+ Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and patient identification techniques to maintain safety and compliance with infection control standards.
+ Manages ventilator settings and airway maintenance, ensuring optimal patient comfort and safety during respiratory support.

**Qualifications**

Washington Regional is looking for an experienced NICU Respiratory Therapist who will provide specialized respiratory care and life support for our premature and critically ill newborn population. Position Summary
The role of the Respiratory Therapist reports to the Respiratory Care Manager. This position is responsible for assessing patients with breathing problems, developing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, and administering therapies such as oxygen, mechanical ventilators, and medications to improve lung function and well-being. This position performs duties including conducting diagnostic tests, monitoring patient progress, performing emergency care, and educating patients and families on managing respiratory conditions in diverse healthcare settings.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Evaluate patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, from infants to the elderly, and perform diagnostic tests like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to understand their respiratory status.
Implement appropriate plan of care by consulting with physicians to create tailored treatment plans for patients with conditions such as asthma, COPD, and cystic fibrosis.
Administer oxygen, therapeutic gases, and medications, and manage complex equipment like mechanical ventilators and chest physiotherapy devices.
Ensure timely completion of all required documentation.
Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas levels, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Effectively communicate the patient's status with all necessary members of the patients care team to coordinate appropriate care.
Provide emergency respiratory support, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), in critical situations.
Educate patients and their families on how to use respiratory equipment and manage chronic respiratory conditions.
Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program

Is responsible for the maintenance of records, charting, progress notes, clinical files, equipment records, preventative maintenance records, and other necessary documentation.
Is responsible to maintain accurate inventory of all Sleep Management/VieMed assets and supplies.
Is responsible for vehicle maintenance and service (paid for by Sleep Management, LLC d/b/a VieMed).
Ensures that vehicle is maintained per applicable accreditation standards at all times.
Is responsible to ensure all pertinent demographic information is updated regularly and with any change in personal or professional status.
Is responsible for the overseeing of all applicable regulatory rules and guidelines as pertains to the staff respiratory therapist.
Is responsible for orientation and training of subordinate or newly hired respiratory therapist staff service technicians.
Exhibits effective written and verbal communication skills. Adheres to cost-containment policies and procedures.
Works with the office staff to ensure prompt and accurate billing and documentation of services, including providing adequate information to satisfy third-party payor guidelines for coverage.
Works with all clinical, managerial, and sales staff to promote and market home respiratory therapist services to all referral sources.
Ensures proper, accurate, and safe operation of all equipment prior to installation.
Is required to provide availability for patient contact and response to patient needs.
Will work with fellow RTs in the area on a rotating on-call schedule.
Will work with team members (other RTs, PCC's and various departments) to insure tasks completed.
