Position Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care aligned with departmental protocols, state requirements, and specialty practice standards. This role performs critical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, provides ventilation management, and participates in emergency response situations to ensure optimal airway and respiratory support for patients across all care units.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and document comprehensive respiratory assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
Conduct diagnostic respiratory procedures and evaluate therapy effectiveness.
Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy.
Assist with insertion and management of artificial airways.
Initiate, monitor, and maintain invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
Observe and document therapeutic patient responses; alert providers of any adverse changes.
Transport and monitor ventilator-dependent patients safely.
Participate in emergency responses, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 1 year of RRT experience required (L&D or critical care experience preferred).
CRT does not qualify.
Education: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Licensure & Certifications:
(NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
State RRT/RCP License

Job Summary and Qualifications
Respiratory Therapy Supervisor - Full-time, NIGHTS
The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor provides both clinical and operational leadership for the Respiratory Care Department during assigned night shifts. This role is responsible for delivering advanced respiratory care to routine and critically ill patients while supervising, supporting, and guiding respiratory therapy staff. The Supervisor ensures high-quality patient care, effective staffing, productivity, and compliance with departmental and hospital standards. Reports to the Manager Respiratory Care / Director Cardiopulmonary.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Perform routine and critical care respiratory therapy procedures, including mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support.
Supervise Respiratory Therapists on the assigned shift, including making patient and staff assignments.
Provide strong leadership, coaching, and guidance to team members; address performance concerns through feedback, coaching, and corrective action as needed.
Make timely, sound clinical and operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Monitor quality of care through staff rounding, documentation audits, and direct observation.
Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment focused on patient safety and service excellence.
Ensure appropriate utilization of staffing, equipment, and departmental resources to maintain productivity and efficiency.
Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing leaders, patients, families, and other interdisciplinary team members.
Document employee discussions, performance issues, and recommendations in accordance with hospital policy.
Identify opportunities for improvement and provide constructive suggestions to leadership to enhance patient care, departmental performance, and hospital operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Clinically proficient in all areas of respiratory care, including critical care services.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and remain flexible in a dynamic, interruption-driven environment.

Associate Degree in Respiratory

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-
Registered Respiratory Therapist
RRT
Full-Time
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) candidates will have the following job responsibilities:
Performs all basic modalities of respiratory care as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
Applies and manages mechanical ventilators in collaboration with physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners, recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort and to expedite the weaning process.
Assembles, disassembles, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, cleans and performs adjustments in the applications of durable medical equipment and circuitry used in the delivery of respiratory care as prescribed in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
Performs pulmonary and cardiology diagnostic testing as prescribed in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
Performs patient assessments and evaluates patient response to care provided, making recommendations to physicians regarding the plan of care, appropriate use of respiratory therapy and modification of therapy as clinical condition changes. Documents therapy provided in an accurate and complete manner in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
Communicates and collaborates with resource staff in formulating care plans, recommendations for change in therapy and identification/resolution of problems and when confronted with unfamiliar situations, procedures and techniques.
Monitors daily workflow of departmental processes, and works assigned shifts in areas of oversight. Maintains skills to perform all functions in area of oversight. Acts as a subject matter expert and resource for departmental staff.

Must have successfully completed an accredited RRT program.
Must be a REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (CRTs will NOT be considered).
Must have BLS and ACLS certifications

Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
CRT or RRT credential through NBRC required.
Active state license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care or critical care preferred.
Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on setting.

Education
Completion of a two-year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associate Degree or equivalent) is required.
Experience
Experience is flexible; New Graduates are welcome if they have recently passed their boards or are waiting on their official license, with no prior respiratory experience.
Certifications/Licenses
State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and NBRC certification are REQUIRED.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS or BCLS Instructor) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or ACLS Instructor) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or PALS Instructor) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Neonate Resuscitate (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.

This core clinical role coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care, performing a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The RRT is a vital member of the patient care team, responsible for monitoring patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and has the unique opportunity to elevate skills in the Vascular Access arena.
Job Responsibilities
Perform and meticulously document comprehensive patient assessments, including monitoring breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
Conduct specialized diagnostic procedures to accurately evaluate the need for, and the patient's response to, respiratory therapy.
Administer a full range of respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation, and assist with the safe placement of artificial airways as required.
Monitor patient for therapeutic response, promptly notifying the provider and intervening appropriately in the event of an unintended response.
Respond immediately to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Assist with the safe transportation of ventilator-dependent patients within the hospital environment.
Requirements
Education
Completion of a two-year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associate Degree or equivalent) is required.
Experience
Experience is flexible; New Graduates are welcome if they have recently passed their boards or are waiting on their official license, with no prior respiratory experience.
Certifications/Licenses
State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and NBRC certification are REQUIRED.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS or BCLS Instructor) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS or ACLS Instructor) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or PALS Instructor) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Neonate Resuscitate (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Skills
