Dr. Barbara Kinnaird has served as Chief Executive Officer since May, 2015. Prior to taking on this role, Dr. Kinnaird had Executive Management responsibility for Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Sales after joining the Company in 2004. Through Dr. Kinnaird’s leadership, the Company has expanded from Cardiac Point of Care testing into a global Acute Care Diagnostics leader, transforming diagnostic testing worldwide, with the central focus on better patient diagnosis, improving patient outcomes and supporting healthcare reform. Dr. Kinnaird demonstrates a passion for growing local businesses and building a leadership culture and she is the Chairman of the Board of ACETECH, a local CEO member-based organization run by CEOs for CEOs. The organization is designed to help grow and scale tech businesses and stimulate the economy through job creation and global expansion. Dr. Kinnaird led the Company through several financings to support the development and commercialization of transformative technologies that impact patients globally. Dr. Kinnaird’s priorities are on building elite teams that specialize in managing organizational changes to improve Company’s processes, reduce costs and accelerate business performance. Dr. Kinnaird’s team has obtained Health Canada certification for 12 products and maintains key regulatory approvals to support sales in several global jurisdictions such as Health Canada approvals, FDA clearance (US), CE Mark (EU), MHLW (Japan), NMPA (China). The Company also has a world-class R&D and manufacturing facility located in Vancouver, Canada which is part of the medical device single audit program. Dr. Kinnaird has over 25 years of research and business experience in the fields of Acute Care Diagnostics and Point of Care (POC) testing. Dr. Kinnaird holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia. She conducted her post-doctoral research at the Michael Smith Laboratories in genomics and gene expression profiling, in collaboration with the B.C. Genome Sciences Centre and consulted for the Proteomics division of Incyte Genomics Inc.
