What is a Restaurant Associate

Restaurant associates are hired to provide support in restaurant management. They mediate between partners and restaurant staff, hire and train personnel, arrange paperwork, and generally perform tasks to keep operations running smoothly at dining establishments.

A restaurant associate is in charge of everything that makes it possible to serve guests food. They see to it that premises are clean and well maintained. They also manage inventory, arrange security, recruit staff, and contribute to marketing the services of the restaurant.

As is usually the case with service industry careers, experience is valued much higher than formal education. You can start working this position with a GED and a certification in food handling if you have the necessary customer service skills and drive, topped up with a healthy amount of problem-solving attitude and a knack for numbers and calculations.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a Restaurant Associate. For example, did you know that they make an average of $11.64 an hour? That's $24,216 a year!

Between 2018 and 2028, the career is expected to grow 14% and produce 775,300 job opportunities across the U.S.
