Restaurant Supervisor Careers

Restaurants are faced-paced environments. There are so many things to be done, so many guests to please, and-unfortunately-so much room for mistakes as well. Restaurant supervisors are the ones keeping every part of the restaurant running smoothly, and thus, play a significant role in minimizing room for error.

The primary purpose of a restaurant supervisor is to oversee the overarching aspects of the restaurant, including food preparation, sanitation, supplier relations, and customer service. Hence, they are heavily involved in operations, working closely with both the kitchen and the dining teams.

A keen eye for detail, great communication skills, and strong leadership are some of the most important qualities that a restaurant supervisor must possess. Aside from that, a restaurant supervisor also needs to have adequate knowledge and experience in restaurant operations.

A high school degree is a minimum requirement for most restaurant supervisor positions. But if you want to increase your chances of job placement, acquiring a degree in hospitality or business administration can be beneficial. More importantly, almost all employers look for prior experience in a restaurant setting, preferably in a leadership role.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a restaurant supervisor. For example, did you know that they make an average of $18.42 an hour? That's $38,305 a year!

Between 2018 and 2028, the career is expected to grow 11% and produce 38,500 job opportunities across the U.S.
