The Sonographer supports the Reid Health Mission, Vision, Values, and Key Service Behaviors. The Sonographer performs Ultrasound diagnostic imaging exams on patients per physician/provider orders with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency. Overview of Responsibilities Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure; ensures information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner. Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates imaging equipment and associated accessories to successfully perform procedures. Selects appropriate anatomic program for the desired protocol. Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Competently operates Ultrasound equipment. Evaluates Ultrasound images for technical quality; manipulates display parameters, and provides hard copy and electronic records, ensuring proper identification is recorded. Responsible for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
