Chief Engineer for Service & Critical Support
The Critical Power Group is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting UPS systems, batteries, and other critical infrastructure equipment. Our team are factory trained on most major UPS manufacturers of static equipment (e.g., Ametek, SCI, Cyberex, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Gutor, APC, MGE, Schneider Electric, Powerware/Eaton to name a few). Our team performs preventive maintenance and equipment testing as well as emergency service calls at high profile government, institutional and commercial customer facilities. The Critical Power Group also provides engineering and technical support to customers and other divisions of M.C. Dean, Inc.
Delivering leading-edge design, integration, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure and facilities for commercial and government enterprise customers. Focusing on system of systems modeling and modular fabrication of critical power, information technology and security systems with integrated multi-disciplined delivery.
The Opportunity
Expert to lead power systems engineering analyses, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for our client's operations and maintenance division. Must be a subject matter expert and have the confidence to consult with clients authentically and increase safety, reliability, and efficiency for clients. We are seeking to improve its base of talent in all technical aspects in the division, so there will be an opportunity for the right individual to take on increasingly challenging managerial roles over time.
Oversee the resource and project planning to ensure high levels of competence and client satisfaction in project execution, and interface with clients when necessary to provide proper understanding and confidence. Track of team training and development, and technician certifications. Expert in testing and commissioning with either a bachelors degree in engineering or significant direct relevant certifications, such as NICET or NETA. Irrespective of formal credentials, we seek an expert in power systems generally and extensive experience in design, commissioning, testing, planning, troubleshooting, test result evaluation, and client interaction. Long-term or career interest in the field of commissioning and testing, along with the potential to manage, mentor, and oversee people and programs is strongly preferred.
Scope
The incoming Commissioning and Testing Leader will be an individual with a passion for power systems studies, power quality analysis, installation, startup, maintenance, repair and training in complex power systems. A power systems design is highly preferred . Understand design, operations, SCADA, and relay-based control systems.
Responsibilities
Leads power system commissioning and testing projects
Develops plans and schedules for commissioning and testing projects
Troubleshoots difficult technical problems and delivers credible feedback
Interprets test results and gives client feedback as to the interpretation of those results
Follows all industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables
Schedules and monitors the work of other less seasoned commissioning and testing personnel
Leads relevant technical discussions with customers, contractors, and suppliers
Reviews and coordinates documents from contractors, customers, and outside agencies
Coordinates project reviews with other disciplines, contractors and departments
Interprets and troubleshoots detailed control schematics
Prepares and presents reports of commissioning and testing results, possible solutions, and rough budgets for corrective action
Coordinates technical issues with design and often takes the lead with troubleshooting and constructability issues
Oversees commissioning and testing certification and training activities. Mentors less seasoned field personnel
Helps prepare bid tabulations and recommendations for Commissioning and Testing
Experience leading field personnel and commissioning and testing professionals
Experience hiring, grooming, and retaining top talent

Competence with software - AGI32, ETAP, SKM Powertools, AutoCAD and Revit

Specific Credentials and Experience
16+ years of total work experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering;12+ years of total work experience with a Master of Science degree in Engineering;10+ years of total work experience with a PhD.
5+ years of experience leading troubleshooting, commissioning, and testing projects in power systems
BSEE required
PE strong preferred
NICET 4 or NETA 4 Certification strongly preferred
An understanding of Design, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance is required
Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for power system troubleshooting, commissioning, and testing projects
