Position Summary / What You'll Do:
As a Civil Engineer II in Transportation, you will support roadway and traffic design projects, collaborate with senior engineers and project managers, and help deliver effective solutions for municipal, state, and private clients.
Responsibilities / Day-to-Day:
- Develop roadway and traffic design plans using CAD and design software
- Conduct technical analyses, reports, and calculations to support design efforts
- Ensure compliance with PennDOT, AASHTO, and local design standards

Qualifications:
Required:

As an Engineer 2 specializing in water/wastewater, you will develop broad knowledge and skills in this practice area. RETTEW recommended a membrane bioreactor (MBR) system for the upgrade because of lower operating and maintenance costs compared to other alternatives. The Authority subsequently hired RETTEW to proceed with engineering design services for the wastewater treatment plant expansion, and we developed competitive procurement documents for purchase of the associated MBR equipment. The engineering team is designing an automated process that will be operator-friendly.
- Sudlersville water system design: RETTEW secured USDA funding for the project and designed the centralized system. RETTEW was responsible for designing the water treatment, storage, and distribution systems; permitting the water system, and overseeing the construction of the systems. In addition, RETTEW prepared the construction documents, technical specifications, and plans for the construction of the water systems. We coordinated among USDA, MDE, and MDSHA to uphold the requirements of each administration. This project ensures the distribution of clean water to Sudlersville residents and improves the overall health and safety of those living and working in the area.
- Asylum Run Interceptor Replacement: RETTEW designed and replaced approximately 4,400 LF of VCP with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sanitary sewer line, as well as 14 48-inch manholes. The project also involved the construction of an access/maintenance road for staging and additional workspace, as well as improving a section of the Capital Area Greenbelt trail.

The Engineering Technician - Civil/Site is a position with 0-3 years of experience working under the supervision of a Senior Engineering Technician or Project Manager. At CESO, a Project Engineer II leverages prior engineering experience to oversee the design and preparation of engineering construction documentation, specifications, and details for multiple projects simultaneously. This position involves using technical knowledge to actively participate in both internal and external meetings, making recommendations based on research, observations, and experience. A Project Engineer II works both individually and collaboratively with team members, leading the coordination and preparation of engineering construction documents, specifications, and details. Additionally, they utilize engineering software and tools to create, modify, and analyze designs, review and improve concepts, and contribute to the preparation of technical reports. A Project Engineer II also troubleshoots technical issues and stays up to date with the latest engineering trends and technologies. Primary Responsibilities
Leads the preparation of construction and ancillary documents in accordance with project scopes, client requirements, and applicable jurisdictional standards.
Lead and support design teams in the daily planning, coordination, and execution of project tasks under the guidance of senior staff or project managers.
Support the project team by coordinating with internal and external partners, including vendors, sub-consultants, clients, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), other departments, and project management team, to ensure alignment and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
Research and apply relevant design standards, codes, and regulations from clients, the company, and governing authorities to ensure compliance and quality.
Perform engineering calculations and technical analysis.
Conduct quality assurance reviews of engineering documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry and company standards.
Prioritize and manage tasks effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Apply engineering principles and technology to develop practical, innovative, and efficient solutions for a variety of project types.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience is required.
Completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and certification as an EIT with a state licensure board is preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.
Computer skills necessary to enter daily timesheet data and use Microsoft Outlook for email correspondence.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, AutoTurn, BlueBeam Revu and other applicable design software.

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer 3to provide project support for power generation construction. The position is based out of our Pittsburgh, PA office and will predominantly work in the PA, WV and OH regions at various power generation client project sites. Initial project support is for structural repair inspection of a cooling tower located within a power generation facility in Moundsville, WV.
Essential Duties Include:
Perform routine inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures for power generation construction inspection.
Applicants must be willing to travel to the regions serviced, with infrequent project support at sites further away. Lodging (hotel) will be provided. This position is primarily field-oriented and location will vary by project support requirements.
Inspection areas include foundation inspection, structural repair inspection, concrete placement inspection, and quality control testing.
Perform concrete and cementitious mortar field testing, with the possibility of further training to assist with laboratory compressive strength testing.
Follow quality control requirements and well-defined criteria using inspection tools and devices. Perform audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained.
Accurately document the results of the inspections, testing, and quality control checks.
Coordinate calibration of test equipment, tools, and devices.
Assist in the writing and updating of inspection procedures, protocols, and checklists.
Interpret prints, drawings, and schematics.
Interpret project specifications and be familiar with schedule and frequency of required samples and tests.
Applicants must be able to perform inspection and testing duties at elevated work sites. Initial project support is located on scaffolding platforms up to 300 feet above ground. Access is by personnel lift and/or crane basket. Some climbing of ladders may be required.
American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Testing Technician - Grade 1 certification is required for initial project support. Certification may be scheduled at time of hiring. Additional ACI certifications preferred include Shotcrete Inspector and Compressive Strength Testing Technician - Grade 1.
Proof of required certifications will need to be provided once obtained

GAI is seeking a Transmission Project Engineer 1 to join our Power Delivery team in the role of Owner's Engineer. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems.
This position combines technical leadership in transmission line design with advisory responsibilities to support clients through all phases of project development and execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-voltage transmission line engineering and design, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to act as an independent advocate for the Owner on complex projects. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills. #INDHP
Competency
Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare specification packages, structural and fabrication drawings.
Perform design and analysis of transmission lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower.
Conduct foundation design and analysis.
Perform electrical clearance checks and calculations.
Ensure compliance with client codes, standards, and specifications.
Develop a keen understanding of Owner objectives and maintain close client relationships.
Support Owner by managing RFIs, review submittals, and oversee design compliance.
Identify cost savings through schedule control, scope management, and change order oversight.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Implement effective engineering methods and provide technical guidance to team members.
May mentor junior engineers and assist with proposal development for new opportunities.
Travel to project sites for meetings and stakeholder engagement as required.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and rugged terrain. Exposure to active construction sites.
Capable of walking, hiking, or standing for extended periods during field and site visits.
Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, technical samples, documents, and other materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
Frequent bending, crouching, and climbing may be required during fieldwork and sample collection.
Ability to safely operate and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and boots as required by site safety protocols.
Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle technical tools, read maps and instruments, observe site conditions, and document findings accurately.
Comfortable working in remote or isolated locations, sometimes for extended durations.
Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as required by specific project sites.
May require driving long distances to field sites and operating vehicles on unpaved or uneven roads.
