The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist III is an advanced level position with hands-on QA experience. Working independently and under minimal supervision, the individual will be working primarily in quality operations, providing quality assurance support to CMC teams, and to in-house DS and DP production, QC testing and systems. The individual will be interacting with cross-functional groups such as Materials Management, Validation, Quality Control, and Manufacturing. Responsibilities/Essential Duties: Perform a wide variety of quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with Revance procedures, applicable US and international regulatory requirements for biologic drug substances and drug products under clinical development and commercial manufacturing. Perform incoming quality attribute inspections; review and disposition of incoming raw materials (e.g. chemicals, packaging and labeling materials, components, etc.). Review documents such as standard operating procedures, master batch records, packaging and labeling records, sampling plans, test methods, qualification protocols, and reports. Review executed production batch records and associated documentation, including any deviation and investigation reports related to lot release. Review of Quality Control, Analytical Development, and Validation protocols and reports. Perform routine sampling and support the reserve sample program. Perform area approval, line clearance, and product inspection. Perform product complaints investigations. Actively update department databases to ensure up-to-date reporting of metrics. Support continuous improvement of quality operations and department databases; author new, review existing, and may review department procedures and/or forms. Support quality systems as needed (e.g. issue and track closure to change controls, deviations, quality investigations, CAPAs). Assist with inspection preparation room for regulatory agency inspection or third-party audits. Act as a compliance resource to provide guidance and assistance towards resolution of simple to moderate deviations, quality investigations, lab investigations, CAPAs and change controls; review and may approve quality system documents related to manufactured products. Assist in data verification of DS and DP sections of regulatory submissions as needed. Assist with internal compliance audits as needed. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree & 4-6 years' directly related experience. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related science. Minimum 4-6 years' experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, with at least 4 years working in direct manufacturing, Quality Control, or Quality Assurance; experience in aseptic manufacturing processes. Able to work with all levels cross-functionally. Good working knowledge and understanding of 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, 600, Eudralex Volume 4 and related Annexes, and ICH guidance documents. 6 years' experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry with at least 4 years working in quality operations involving aseptic fill, finish, and packaging operations. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Good working knowledge of quality systems cGMP standards applicable to commercial biologics DS and DP. Works independently with minimum supervision to accomplish goals. Relies on extensive experience and judgement to resolve simple to moderately complex issues. Able to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with no instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments. Prior experience with regulatory inspections. Specific vision abilities required by this job include passing a vision test in order to perform statistical inspections of drug products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit, converse and listen to individuals, use arms and legs to transfer materials from one location to another, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. **Job Description****General Summary:**The Pain Territory Business Manager (TBM) is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with Health Care Professionals (HCPs) to promote the safe and effective use of JOURNAVX, a novel selective inhibitor of NaV1.8 in acute pain. The TBM reports into a Regional Field Leader and serves as a field representative for JOURNAVX within the community setting. The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day EH&S responsibilities related to regulated waste management, permit compliance and client support for both lab and manufacturing environments. This role will also have the ability to learn and develop EH&S skills related to the biopharma industry. Reporting to: Manager, Facilities and EH&S Location: Newark CA - onsite Pay rate: $30.00 - $34.00/hour Responsibilities/Essential Duties: Provide waste management support for hazardous and medical waste in a BSL2/BSL3 and GMP environment. Perform regular safety and environmental inspections to support EPA, OSHA, and CDC requirements. Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other regulations. The Position The opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated summer intern to support the development of algorithms for enzyme optimization within Roche Diagnostics. You will work in a hybrid setting with a multidisciplinary team of computational scientists, data scientists, and protein engineers to design, implement, and evaluate methods that improve enzyme performance for diagnostic applications. This role is ideal for a student who enjoys working at the intersection of advanced optimization techniques, protein language models (PLMs), and molecular biology/protein engineering. * Develop and prototype computational methods for enzyme optimization (e.g., sequence design, mutational scanning, in silico screening). * Apply, fine-tune, and interpret protein language models (PLMs) to analyze and generate protein sequences. * Design and implement optimization techniques (e.g., Bayesian optimization, evolutionary strategies, genetic algorithms, gradient-based or heuristic methods) to guide sequence selection and experimental design. * Analyze sequence-function datasets from past and ongoing experiments; perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and statistical analysis. * Collaborate with Roche Diagnostics team members to translate biological questions into well-defined computational problems and optimization objectives. * Document code, analyses, and models in a reproducible manner (e.g., Git, notebooks, internal reports). * Present progress and findings to the team through brief presentations and written summaries. Who you are: * Currently pursuing a Master's, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, or related). * Strong programming skills in Python and experience with scientific/ML libraries (e.g., NumPy, pandas, PyTorch/TensorFlow, scikit-learn, JAX). * Good understanding of optimization techniques, such as Bayesian optimization, genetic algorithms/evolutionary strategies, reinforcement learning for black-box optimization, or related methods. * Good understanding of protein language models (PLMs):Experience using or studying models such as ESM, ProteinMPNN, ProtTrans, or similar sequence-based representation methods.Familiarity with sequence embeddings, model fine-tuning, or downstream tasks (e.g., fitness prediction, stability/activity prediction). * Foundational knowledge of molecular biology and protein engineering, including concepts like mutagenesis, enzyme activity, stability, and structure-function relationships. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously between meetings in a hybrid environment. * Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional, international teams. * Coursework or research experience in molecular modeling and computational structural biology. * Familiarity with methods for molecular docking or protein-protein/protein-ligand interaction modeling. Preferred Qualifications: * Prior experience with protein engineering projects, directed evolution, or sequence-function prediction models. * Experience working with large biological sequence datasets and high-throughput screening or assay data. * Familiarity with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and/or GPU-accelerated training and inference. * Experience using version control (Git/GitHub) and reproducible research tools (Jupyter, conda/poetry, Docker, etc.). * Coursework or research experience in probabilistic modeling, optimization, or machine learning for biological systems. You will influence the design of upcoming features, ensure technical readiness for global launches, and ensure our technology is robust, scalable, and user-centric from Day 1. The Opportunity: As a member of Global Customer Support, the GCS TPM supports on-market products, performs advanced second-level troubleshooting, and guides junior team members on troubleshooting techniques and second-level inquiries. Works consistently with cross-functional teams and participates in defining and implementing service requirements in development projects. The GCS TPM defines the work scope and works autonomously with little to no supervisor direction. Serves as a technical expert on product(s) and works on complex projects requiring broad knowledge of products and systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Acts as the primary GCS technical lead for high-priority hardware/software development requests from the Development team, strategically managing the frequency and urgency of these incoming requests to allow the rest of the team to focus on daily support jobs. * Provides expert-level HW/SW support during "rush hour" periods, including system support for regional and affiliate escalations. * In the role of a GCS Project Leader (TPM): Leads the overall GCS project team to support new product development and updates, accountable to provide all GCS project deliverables on time, on quality, and within scope. * Represents GCS in relevant project meetings with the Development team to ensure that service and support requirements are considered and implemented. * Provides on-market support by addressing complex Level 2 case escalations independently with little or no direction. * Creates / revises curriculum for training sessions and provides new approaches to improve the training process. Delivers training to support internal staff readiness for launch. * Participates in and leads design review teams to provide service perspective, reviews and approves design change content, and creates the required deliverables. * Creates and updates service manuals and all service documentation for new product launch and on-market support. * Follows established Roche Quality System procedures in execution of work and identifies need for and creates new departmental procedures. * Other duties as assigned by management.
