Join and lead MongoDB's Server Programmability team, helping build the core of a distributed database! Server Programmability's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, improving local server development experience and velocity, enhancing the programming model, and building low level reusable software components that can be leveraged by other teams working on the database.
Our team currently consists of six engineers, located both in New York City and fully remote. We operate close to the bottom of the stack, and have a lot of influence over the performance and robustness of our open source database as well as the development efficiency of the engineering team overall. This role will be responsible for analyzing, documenting and monitoring risk and compliance posture across our existing program. MongoDB aligns its practices to multiple compliance frameworks in order to support our customer's needs. About the opportunity:

Manage customer expectations on project dates, timelines accordingly.
Partner with customer teams, partners, and project leadership.
Take meeting minutes (with team collaboration), run meetings.
Create project status reports, reviewing with internal teams and partnering with Delivery Leads to deliver to Customers.
Manage the day to day project ensuring the Egen team is delivering against expectations, identify and escalate changes in scope and impediments. Manage projects using our project tracking systems.
As needed, research and prepare change request requirements and impact. Participate in creating change requests and managing through to signature.
Run agile or similar ceremonies, using both best practice and creativity to meet the customer and project where it is and where it needs to be.
Manage project work, sprint/kanban work through tools, learning as needed for a given Customer environment.
Identify and escalate risks and issues proactively.

Manage Internal Team Communications
Clearly articulate scope and expectations to Egen team members, making sure their roles are clear and they are set up for success.

About You:
3-5 years of experience in managing medium to large-scale projects with experience managing project teams of various sizes, locations, and skillsets/ levels.
Experience in professional services or client delivery; this is a client facing role.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or a technology-related field.
Recommended experience working within product companies and consultancies.
You think and work systematically and logically, backed up by technical skills, methodological problem solving, and practical thinking.

We're looking for someone with
10+ years of software development/consulting/support experience, preferably in a number of distinct industries/verticals
Competence in at least one of the following languages (in no particular order): Java, C#, Python, Node.js (JavaScript), Ruby, Go
Experience with databases such as MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
Familiarity with Linux diagnostics and tuning; Windows tuning knowledge is a plus
Familiarity with enterprise-scale software architectures, application development methodologies, and software deployment and operations
Excellent analytical, diagnostic skills, and problem-solving skills

MongoDB is seeking highly technical candidates for a role on the Server Security team as a Staff Software Engineer. Server Security is a development focused group within the engineering organization. The Server Security team builds features in the core MongoDB Server that enable database users to secure their data, such as TLS and X.509 certificate management, at-rest data encryption, authentication and authorization systems, and the new Queryable Encryption offering. Our team operates close to the bottom of the stack, and has a lot of influence over the safety and robustness of our open source database and a growing ecosystem of cloud services and client applications.
