Summary:
This position performs inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of campus thermal systems, related plant equipment, water treatment systems as well as maintenance and repair of campus domestic water & sewer distribution systems, and campus gas utility distribution systems within the domain of the Facilities Management Division. Maintains records pertaining to the operation, maintenance and repair of these systems. Responsible for the proper storage and usage of tools and equipment used in repair operations. This position works to resolve facility issues and customer concerns, ensuring good public relations, a positive department image through personal contacts and assurance of quality standards to provide exceptional customer service, and a safe, functional, clean, efficient and attractive living and learning environment. Supports in the resolution of afterhours and weekend request received though the customer response center line (2Fix).
The Assistant Operating Engineer reports to the Assistant Chief Operating Engineer along with the Lead Engineers. This position is part of the Energy Management team consisting of licensed operating engineers and other trades persons.
Essential Functions:
* As directed by the Lead Engineers or Assistant Chief Engineer, the incumbent performs inspections, maintenance (preventative and predictive), trouble shooting, and repair of campus thermal systems (including but not limited to steam, chilled water, and heating water), related plant equipment, water treatment systems (including but not limited to natatorium systems, boiler systems, and chiller systems) as well as maintenance and repair of domestic water & sewer campus distribution systems, and campus gas utility distribution systems to assure the fitness for use and reliability of our buildings, systems and equipment to assure the fitness for use and reliability of our buildings, systems and equipment in support of the service, research and academic mission of the university. Completes training as required regarding the above systems. Operates and maintains utility systems to meet department, reliability and energy efficiency objectives along with regulatory compliance requirements.
* Maintain records pertaining to the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of campus utilities systems, and related plant equipment to build a database from which historical data can be used to optimize scheduling and repair of critical components of the heating and cooling systems. Make recommendations to improve the efficiency and reliability of campus managed utility systems. Responsible for the proper storage and usage of tools and equipment used in the repair operations to ensure the availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies.
* Performs Inspections of campus utilities systems, and related plant equipment tests to insure that boiler and chiller water system chemistry is within the acceptable limits and maintains proper chemical water treatment through the knowledge and application of approved training provided by the chemical distributor.
* Supports in the resolution of after-hours and weekend request received though the customer response center line (2Fix).
* Completes training and performance requirements to meet department goals as well as regulatory requirements. Maintains an IDP (Individual Development Plant). Ensures all items are documented in the LMS (Learning Management System)

This is a relief position, 24/7 coverage. The incumbent will be required to work a second consecutive shift should their relief fail to arrive for the next shift. The incumbent is required to work unscheduled shifts as needed.
* The position will perform job duties in confined spaces and be exposed to extreme temperatures. This is a physically demanding position which requires strenuous physical exertion such as frequent or constant lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of heavy objects to perform essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Overview
The Forklift Operator I is responsible for various assignments, duties, and tasks within the Warehouse that may or may not require the use of a PIT Forklift, such as building pallets, inbound unloading, outbound loading, replenishment of the pick floor, or Vertique mezzanine areas, and, or the fulfillment of customer orders. BASIC FUNCTIONS: Responsible for operation of equipment and job duties related to the warehousing and shipping of all production, including preforms and bottles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Make sure that unit loads that leave the palletizer are properly plugged and that strap and wrap are applied according to specifications. If the unit is tagged with a label, assure that the information on the label is correct and that the labeling equipment is operating properly.
2. Supply pallets, top frames, and tier sheets to the palletizers. Reload equipment with strap and wrap as necessary.
3. Notify the maintenance team whenever equipment is malfunctioning. Provide information to the maintenance team that may assist them in resolving the problem.
4. Place bottles and preforms in the warehouse for storage. Assure that products are stored in the correct location and that product is correctly labeled and packaged according to SQMS standards. Report any damaged product in the warehouse to the Team Leader. Supply preforms to the blowmolding area as needed for production, and dump preforms into the hoppers as instructed on the Production Schedule.
5. Load preforms, bottles, and other items as needed onto trucks for shipment. Assure that all products are not damaged or obviously defective prior to shipment. Talk with customers regarding shipment of loads in the absence of the dispatcher. Unload all incoming freight, as needed.
6. Unload preform and bottle dunnage shipments and store in the proper areas. Build dunnage to ensure the consistent operation of palletizing equipment. Follow all hygiene specifications.
7. Maintain a clean working environment and follow all safety guidelines and policies at all times. Report any unsafe conditions to the Team Leader. Inspect all equipment, including fork trucks, per established guidelines.
8. Perform other duties as requested by the Team Leader.
9. Comply with all activities related to product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and quality.

Responsibilities
* Stacks and stores merchandise in designated areas using a forklift, clamp, push-pull equipment
* Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to storage locations
* Pulls and prepares products for shipment
* Ensures that the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped
* Performs picking duties in an efficient manner meeting customer service standards
* Moves product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers
* Operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods

* Assists in physical inventories
* Ensures proper stock rotation

* Must be able to lift and/or pull 50 lbs without restriction
* Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
* Walking in the distribution center and around area with great frequency, facilities are over a quarter mile in length
* Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations
* Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed
* Must be able to get NFI forklift certified
* Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service skills and basic math skills

The Role at a Glance

How You'll Contribute
You will be responsible for accurately receiving, picking, and updating shipment information using a Warehouse Management System (WMS). Maintaining precise documentation and ensuring accuracy in all warehouse transactions will be essential to your role.
You'll interact regularly with drivers, operations staff, customer service teams, vendors, and customers. Your tasks will include noting exceptions on inbound shipments, loading outbound shipments, and entering all relevant data into the WMS with a strong attention to detail.
