Rex Lumber company history timeline

1946

After years spent handling, grading, sawing, and selling hardwoods in sawmills, Paul Forester Jr. founded the Rex Lumber Company in 1946 at a single rail siding in Somerville, Massachusetts.

1971

Our New Jersey location began operation in 1971, with kilns.

1986

Following a steady plan of growth, Rex opened our yard in Doswell VA in 1986.

2009

In 2009, the Rex Lumber purchased a Southern Yellow Pine Sawmill in Brookhaven, Mississippi and upgraded the facility for improved high quality, high volume Southern Yellow Pine lumber manufacturing and is now leading the industry in safety, quality and production.

2017

In 2017, the McRae family made the decision to invest in a greenfield mill.
