The
Aviation Engineering Intern
will collaborate with and be mentored by airfield engineers. The selected candidate may assist in the design and construction of runways, taxiways, terminals, Federal Aviation Administration Navigation Aids (FAA NAVAIDs), airport lighting systems, and a variety of airport support facilities. The selected candidate will work on a wide range of airport projects that combine innovative airside and landside design with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions. Additionally, the successful applicant will gain experience in long-term airport planning, detailed engineering design, and construction administration. Engineering design elements may include grading, drainage, pavement geometry, and construction phasing. This will serve as a great opportunity to obtain hands-on experience and a better understanding of airport design and the aviation industry.

Responsibilities:
Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
Prepare and revise plan documents details
Calculate & review quantities
Collect and prepare data for evaluation
Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
Support field inspection assignments
Provide support to engineering and project management associates
Qualifications:
Current student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited university
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
Strong work ethic aligning with the company's mission and core values
Preferred Qualifications:
2.5 GPA or above
AutoCAD experience
Specific interest in airports and the aviation industry
Interest in working on aviation projects

THE ROLE
The Project Manager will lead the planning, designing, permitting, assisting, funding, bidding, and performing of construction administration as it relates to civil engineering water and wastewater infrastructure work. Additionally, the Project Manager will work closely with the client to understand the scope of projects, resolve issues, and provide routine updates on project progress. Project work focuses on water intake, treatment, pumping, storage and distribution, and wastewater collection, pumping, and treatment. These responsibilities include:
Prepares plans, specifications, costs, and estimates for municipal and industrial water and wastewater facilities.
Leverage engineering design software to edit project designs, draft plans, drawings, and models according to project specifications.
Leads and completes engineering design projects from start to finish.
Meets with client board members and provides monthly progress reporting.
Monitors construction progress and provides construction support and on-site observation.
Lead and manage construction administration tasks, including submittal and Request For Information (RFI) review, progress payment review, compliance with funding agency provisions, and oversight of onsite construction project representative staff.
Analyze water/wastewater facilities for system deficiencies regarding compliance with local, state, and federal standards and regulations. Provide improvement alternatives to meet compliance with such regulations.
Assist the Senior Manager in engaging with community members, government officials, and other stakeholders to communicate project goals, address concerns, and gather input on water and wastewater initiatives.

YOUR STRENGTHS
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction engineering or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
Minimum of 4+ years of civil engineering design and construction experience. Water/wastewater engineer project experience preferred.
Experience in task or project management
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation required

Comprehensive Reporting: Prepare a variety of reports, opinions, and recommendations crucial for project direction. This may include hydrology/hydraulic studies, due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer's opinion of probable costs, project schedules, utility computations, detention/retention computations, storm sewer reports, local and state permit applications, stormwater reports, soils reports, earthwork volume calculations, StormCAD reports, WaterCAD reports, and preliminary grading.
Construction Support: Offer valuable construction-related services, such as permit applications, cut sheets, quantity estimates, and transmittals. Organize site plans, construction plans, and construction documents under the guidance of Senior staff.
Engineering Software Mastery: Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software packages to complete assignments efficiently, ensuring they align with established standards.
Effective Communication: Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when collaborating with current staff members, ensuring seamless project coordination.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an Accredited University
5+ years of experience
PE strongly preferred
AutoCAD Civil 3D, WaterCAD, StormCAD, and SewerCAD preferred
Required Skills
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with engineering software packages
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
Experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial land development
Knowledge of hydrology/hydraulic studies
Familiarity with local and state permit applications
