About the Role:
As a Senior Roadway Engineer, you will take on a key role providing high-level technical expertise for roadway and highway design projects across South Carolina. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about design excellence and wants to focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions without the distractions of project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead roadway and highway design efforts, including geometric design, alignments, typical sections, roadside safety, and maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans.
Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert, providing guidance on design standards, innovative solutions, and best practices.
Perform quality control reviews and ensure technical accuracy, constructability, and adherence to SCDOT and regulatory requirements.
Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical coaching and design review to build team capabilities.
Coordinate closely with multidiscipline teams, including drainage, traffic, and structural engineers, to ensure integrated design solutions.
Participate in field reviews, design charrettes, and technical discussions with clients and internal teams to solve complex design challenges.
Stay current on SCDOT, FHWA, and AASHTO design guidelines, contributing to the technical growth of the team.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina.
7+ years of roadway engineering experience with an emphasis on technical design.
Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil3D
Strong understanding of SCDOT and AASHTO roadway design standards.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on mentorship and technical leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with design-build and alternative delivery projects.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and ProjectWise.
Involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE, ACEC, or ITE is encouraged.
