The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Airfield Civil Engineering Intern to join the Airfield team in our Salt Lake City, UT office.
The Airfield Civil Engineering Intern will will collaborate with and be mentored by top Engineering associates on our team. The selected candidate will work with associates assisting the Airfield Group on a variety of conventional and design-build projects that combine innovative design with a strong knowledge of technical standards to exceed client expectations and provide cost-effective solutions. The selected candidate will most likely work with our roadway design and water resources staff as needed by workload, which will provide greater insight into the type of work other departments are doing. This is an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a better understanding of the Infrastructure Engineering Industry.
Responsibilities:
Perform calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
Prepare and revise engineering design drawings
Collect, prepare, and analyze data
Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
Provide support to engineering and project management associates
Qualifications:
Current student pursuing a Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET accredited university with at least 1 year remaining until program completion
2.5 GPA or above
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior internship or related experience
Experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience or exposure to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars
Specific interest in Aviation Infrastructure

Activities include the geometric design of runways, taxiways, and aprons; bituminous and concrete pavement design; stormwater and utility infrastructure design; coordination with airports, airlines, FAA and other tenants; and construction administration/management. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering or other professionally recognized equivalent disciplines from an accredited ABET university
Minimum of 10 years' experience, with at least two years of airport design experience
Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain PE License within 6 months
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required for use in completing assignments
