The Archivist focuses on acquiring, appraising, processing, and describing primarily paper-based records, historical documents, physical ephemera and other primary resources relevant to RISD's mission and history for the RISD Archives. and makes them accessible to researchers. The Archivist and the Digital Archivist work together to ensure alignment and compliance with the college's records management program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES * Develop, implement, and maintain policies, workflows, and processes for accessioning, appraising, arranging, describing, preserving, managing, and providing access to physical and digital archival materials in accordance with archival standards, best practices (including inclusive description), and library and institutional policies. * Build relationships with offices, programs, and initiatives across campus to effectively administer the records management program for all college and museum departments; maintain records retention schedules; ensure transfer of permanent records to archives and timely disposition of temporary records. * Develop and implement a plan for the storage and stewardship of physical collections in a wide range of formats that facilitates access and preserves materials for long-term use. * Identify endangered materials within the archives collection, prioritize for conservation or other preservation, and work with the library director to identify funding for the work to be completed. * Collaborate with offices across campus, create opportunities and campaigns to identify and collect first-hand accounts and related ephemera of enduring value to the college that reflect the broad range of cultural perspectives, lived experiences and identities of the RISD community, including, but not limited to the production of oral histories. * Provide reference services and support research and scholarship, including presentations to classes on a range of topics such as primary source research practices and highlighting diversity in the collections and RISD's history. * Promote the archival collections and services and RISD history through outreach activities, including maintaining and expanding archives web pages and content for the online institutional repository. * Document activities and keep annual statistics, as well as develop reports and make presentations as needed. * In collaboration with the Digital Archivist, recommend annual departmental budget to the director, including equipment and supplies, library materials, student employment and major expenditures. Plan for future space and capital budget needs of archives. * Participate in professional and institutional activities; pursue continuing education as appropriate. Serve on library and/or college committees. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS * Contribute to exhibits and other public programs. * Train and supervise interns, volunteers and student employees in support of the tasks described above. * Identify outside funding sources and help to prepare grant proposals. * Perform related activities as assigned.

To facilitate this, Rhode Island School of Design maintains a registry of models available for assignment to a wide range of classes. Figure Models provide inspiration to students in classroom settings by holding a variety of poses or going through a variety of gestures for the purpose of inspiring works of art. Models pose either alone or with other models. Poses may include any one or the combination of the following: nudity, costuming, demonstration of gestures, the demonstration of grace or fluidity of the human body, the demonstration of strength in the human body, the depiction of skeletal and/or muscular structure and/or the depiction of fullness, roundness and/or curves. Currently, we are seeking a diverse group of models with varying body shapes, sizes, muscle tone, and skin tone for the current academic year 2023-2024. Researches and promotes the use of digital and analog tools, materials, and processes in EFS spaces and curriculum. This position oversees and implements environmental health and safety issues in coordination with the environmental health and safety office. EFS is the studio curriculum for all first-year undergraduate students at RISD and is comprised of three programs of study: Drawing, Design and Spatial Dynamics. EFS faculty members emphasize the development of rigorous critical inquiry and motivate students to learn independently. Projects are designed to encourage exploration, questioning and risk-taking. Our students are diverse, coming from a wide range of geographic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds, representing all forms of diversity. Essential Functions Train and assist faculty, students, and others in the proper use of machinery, tools, safety equipment, supplies and in following safety procedures. This position is a valuable member of the RISD community and is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff along with College-owned or used properties through effective emergency medical and incident response, comprehensive building and campus property security, parking enforcement, shuttle and escort service. The successful candidate will thrive in a campus environment that is committed to advancing the principles of social equity and inclusion, and equal access to resources and opportunities. The starting rate for this position is $23.00/hr. Essential Functions: Develop a thorough knowledge of all campus security posts as well as all campus properties and geography and effectively and efficiently conduct foot, fixed and mobile security patrols of all campus property, utilizing assigned systems, gear and protocols, to deter and detect unsafe or criminal activity, identify and detain individuals as appropriate, and provide community education. Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency medical care as required. Employ appropriate techniques as trained to deal with members of the community and public in mental distress and/or under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotic substances. Independently and/or collaboratively with other officers and Public Safety staff, proactively respond to calls for service including but not limited to lock-outs, fire, mechanical and/or burglar alarms, alcohol violations, student code violations, escorts, parking violations, defacement/vandalism complaints, motor vehicle accidents, noise disturbances, trespassing violations, injury reports etc. Conduct initial incident investigations, gathering information by interviewing and obtaining statements from witnesses, victims, and suspects, securing physical evidence and filing detailed reports using a computerized report system while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Perform periodic inspections of systems and facilities such as call boxes, alarms or street lights to ensure proper function and prevent failure. Work assignments in the Dispatch center and/or fixed security posts within a residential building utilizing camera system surveillance. Effectively operate and maintain all assigned equipment including, but not limited to; radios, uniforms, computers, vehicles, medical supplies. Actively participate in college events designed to foster the relationship between the Department and members of the RISD community. Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical and psychological examinations, insurance and driver's record check, and National Crime Records check and must be fingerprinted. The incumbent is required to become a State of RI licensed EMT and to complete the RI College & University Public Safety Training Academy (or equivalent training as determined by the Director) within two years of the date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must complete Field Training and Evaluation Program to include training in CPR/First Aid, safe driving practices, OC spray, defensive tactics, expandable batons and handcuffing procedures within timeframe as approved by the Director. Ability to function independently, with moderate supervision, completing assigned work in a timely manner is required, as is the ability to prioritize based on emerging circumstances and changing priorities. Perform basic food preparation, assist in the preparation of complex menu items, and assist with serving food items as needed and in compliance with safety and HAACP standards. Remain up to date on safety and HAACP standards. Either directly or in partnership with members of the Catering department, participate in inventory processes of catering food items and supplies, including paper and plastic ware, beverages, and beer, wine and spirits. Help ensure that storage areas and freezers in proper order and sanitary condition. Ensure the proper use and cleanliness (inside and out) of catering motor vehicles, which includes fueling and updating/maintaining a mileage log sheet. Report repairs needed to the Catering Manager. Makes daily deliveries for catering. Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience: Must hold a valid driver's license. Excellent interpersonal skills and a keen attention to detail and visual presentation are required. Must be able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students and a discerning external clientele. Commitment to centering inclusivity, diversity and equity in executing key responsibilities. High school diploma Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of previous experience in a fast-paced food service environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
