    The Retail Lead role is instrumental in supporting the daily operations and overall success of RISD`s independent retail stores. This position ensures shift preparedness, product availability, presentation, and customer service meet established standards. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the needs of an arts and design community and foster a cohesive and effective shift through clear communication, problem-solving, and regular check-ins with team members and leadership. Essential Functions/Duties: Is an active member of the store's shift team. Responsible for hands-on cashiering, stocking, cleaning and problem solving associated with shifts. Executes opening and/or closing procedures, documents any related information for reference. Performs physical walk throughs to ensure that the venues and team are ready to welcome guests and maintain continuity of experience throughout the shift. In the absence of Assistant Manager, delegates work assignments, conducts pre-shift meetings prior to service, problem solves, and communicates relevant shifts happening via established communication channels. Ensures proper operational supplies are available, instructs staff on POS, ensures cashier stands are set up and hardware is working, assists with end of shift reports, and reports any scanning or pricing issues. Ensures standardized procedures and checklists are used consistently & correctly. Supports the eCommerce inquiries, order fulfillment and distribution Submits buyer-approved order replenishments to vendors via established systems, by phone and/or email, adhering to appropriate procedures. Assists with taking inventory counts, maintaining and ordering of supplies as needed and as directed. Assists with receiving and maintaining storage areas. Proficient in utilizing all features associated with POS technology, addresses issues promptly following established recovery procedures. Participates in the training of new staff on POS to ensure consistent outcomes Complies with PCI standards for system usage. Assist the buyers as assigned. Ensures orders are processed and fulfilled through various customer ordering platforms throughout their shift, as needed. Monitors waste and supply usage, and makes recommendations to streamline and standardize practices. Monitors to ensure best practices in theft control and product security. Ensures all merchandise on the sales floor and stockroom are accurately labeled, in their designated locations and well stocked. Education/Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience A minimum of 3 years retail experience, with a minimum of 1 year of leadership experience. Experience with art supplies preferred. Strong background in retail service: product knowledge, presentation, and service. Ability to read and write in English. Multilingual preferred. Practicing artists with practical knowledge of materials application preferred. Experience working with POS systems and inventory management systems. Experience with receiving, purchasing & inventory management systems preferred Valid driver's license preferred. Required to take RISD PCI compliance class. Essential Functions: Develop a thorough knowledge of all campus security posts as well as all campus properties and geography and effectively and efficiently conduct foot, fixed and mobile security patrols of all campus property, utilizing assigned systems, gear and protocols, to deter and detect unsafe or criminal activity, identify and detain individuals as appropriate, and provide community education. Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency medical care as required. We are seeking artists, designers, and technologists whose creative and teaching practices engage critically and imaginatively with computation, technology, and culture. Ensure systems, tools and reports are effectively and efficiently designed, modified, tested, and utilized to meet changing requirements and to support and measure department strategic initiatives. Obtain ongoing system training. Research, identify and implement new tools, technologies and reports to streamline departmental job processes. Train end users on the Payroll system and time and attendance applications. Provide data, reports and schedules for the purposes of helping RISD successfully complete of internal and external audits and tax filings, including, but not limited to RISD's financial audit, Workers Compensation audit, HR Pension Audit, Data and Research surveys and the 990 Tax Return. Stay abreast of current payroll trends, applications, tools, and best practices. Identify and network with other local colleges and system user support groups to affect the most efficient methods of payroll accounting, record keeping, system, and security. Evaluate and recommend the same as appropriate to RISD. Proactively identify and advise management regarding effects of key factors, metrics and business activities. Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of seven years management experience in payroll administration overseeing both exempt and non-exempt multi-state payrolls. Experience with automated, cloud-based payroll systems and PC office applications, including a demonstrated ability to lead the implementation and upgrade of systems. Excellent Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to quickly solve a range of complex problems. Ability to lead, manage and drive projects and plans to completion and to influence others outside of span of control. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the institution and external partners. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with wide variety of users operating at all technical skill levels. Ability to interpret user needs to appropriate technology solutions. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement payroll technological and operational efficiencies and increase effectiveness. Ability to proactively interpret and translate payroll reporting needs and design analytics, reports, and dashboards which meet those needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Preferred Qualifications: Professional payroll association certification desirable. Experience with Workday software product a plus. International tax treaty payroll experience preferred.
