As Supply Chain Lead, you will have responsibilities from end-to-end in supply chain strategy, operations, and execution for advanced quantum hardware and subsystem components. You will manage high-complexity sourcing, logistics, partner relationships, risk mitigation, and continuous optimization to support scalable quantum system builds. And you'll partner closely with engineering, product, operations, and quality teams to deliver mission-critical supply of high-precision components under tight tolerances, lead times, and regulatory constraints. This role requires someone who can navigate a nascent, high-technology supply base (e.g. for lasers, optics, cryogenic systems, control electronics, qubit materials) and build robust supply chains under uncertainty.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute the supply chain strategy for quantum hardware and associated subsystems (e.g. cryogenics, control electronics, photonics)
Translate product roadmaps and demand forecasts into supply chain plans, capacity needs, and sourcing strategies
Drive cost reduction, total cost of ownership (TCO) optimization, and margin improvement across supply chain
Ensure compliance with export control, ITAR, trade, and security requirements
Sourcing & Supplier Management
Identify, qualify, and manage strategic suppliers for highly specialized and precision components
Assist with negotiating contracts, pricing, lead times, and terms, balancing cost, quality, and supply risk
Conduct supplier audits, capability development, and continuous improvement programs
Help us build a program of supplier scorecards and SLAs; escalate and remediate supplier performance issues
Supply Chain Operations & Logistics
Oversee procurement, inventory management, and material flow (incoming, internal, inter site transfers)
Develop a systematic approach to handle purchase requisitions
Manage inbound logistics, customs, import/export compliance, and coordination with freight forwarders
Lead demand-driven supply execution, order placement, expediting, and order change management
Collaborate with operations/assembly teams to align material availability with production schedules
Pick/Pack and Ship domestic and international shipments using designated brokers (Fed Ex , UPS )
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with engineering, product, operations, quality, and finance to ensure alignment
Lead cross-functional supply chain reviews, design for supply-ability, and change control
Mentor and manage junior supply chain staff or buyers
Communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field; advanced degree a plus
8-12+ years of progressively responsible supply chain / procurement experience in high-tech, manufacturing, aerospace, or similar fields
Demonstrated success managing supply chains for precision, high-reliability, or specialized subsystems (e.g. optics, electronics, vacuum, cooling)
Team player that works well with all departments (Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Eng, Doc Control, etc.)
Supplier negotiation, contract management, and supplier development skills
Experience with global sourcing, import/export compliance, logistics, and customs
Excellent analytical, modeling, and planning skills
Strong leadership, cross-functional communication, and stakeholder management
Experience with supply chain / ERP / planning software tools; preferably NetSuite
Nice-to-Have
Experience in quantum, semiconductor, cryogenics, or related advanced technology supply chains
Working knowledge and experience in one or more of the following commodities: RF cables, Machining, Sheet Metal, Floor Stock , and Mechanical /Electrical Assys
Knowledge of export controls, ITAR, EAR, security, and trade compliance
Experience in risk modeling, scenario planning, or resilience engineering

Mechanical Design & Prototyping:
Design of mechanical components and subsystems, including cryostat assemblies, enclosures, and signal chain hardware.
Develop and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Support design reviews, tolerance analyses, and documentation of mechanical interfaces.
Collaborate with senior engineers on thermal and mechanical design challenges in cryogenic environments.
Participate in lab activities, including prototype assembly, testing, and validation.
Collaboration & Documentation:
Work cross-functionally with hardware, cryo, RF, and systems teams.
Maintain clear design documentation, version control, and traceability within the PLM system.
Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and lab workflow.
Required Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
3+ years of relevant industry or academic experience (internships, co-ops, or project-based).
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T, and basic tolerance analysis.
Familiarity with materials and mechanical systems operating in thermal or vacuum environments.

Senior Quantum Engineer, Quantum Integrated Circuit Design and Simulation Automation

As a Quantum Engineer in the quantum integrated circuit design team, you will transform our quantum integrated circuit design and simulation workflow, enabling Rigetti to model increasingly complex and larger scale quantum processors, at the 1000Q scale and beyond. Leveraging your experience in computational electromagnetics and commercially available electromagnetic solvers in conjunction with a strong software engineering background, you will accelerate the simulation and optimization of quantum integrated circuits. You will improve both the automation of our modeling tools and the techniques used to simulate our designs, both classically and in the quantum regime, through your expertise in numerical methods and high performance computing.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement industry quality software infrastructure to automate the quantum integrated circuit design workflow, including the classical electromagnetic simulations of the device and the diagonalization of the quantum device Hamiltonian.
* Accelerate simulations by adapting them for high performance compute clusters, including acceleration with GPU clusters where appropriate.
* Develop optimization routines that wrap around the automated design and simulation workflow to improve the performance of quantum integrated circuits across a broad range of metrics (loss, crosstalk, etc…)
* Drive a deeper understanding of our existing quantum processor designs and contribute to the design of next-generation architectures through computational modeling.
* Collaborate with quantum integrated design and simulation engineers to identify and address inefficiencies in the design process.
Preferred Qualifications
* PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
* Strong background in computational electromagnetics and numerical methods, with experience with commercial solvers including ANSYS, COMSOL, CST Microwave Studio or similar.

As Senior Quantum Engineer, Readout, you will optimize superconducting qubit readout and reset on Rigetti's quantum processors and fault-tolerant prototypes. As a Quantum Engineer in the quantum integrated circuit design team, you will transform our quantum integrated circuit design and simulation workflow, enabling Rigetti to model increasingly complex and larger scale quantum processors, at the 1000Q scale and beyond. Leveraging your experience in computational electromagnetics and commercially available electromagnetic solvers in conjunction with a strong software engineering background, you will accelerate the simulation and optimization of quantum integrated circuits. You will improve both the automation of our modeling tools and the techniques used to simulate our designs, both classically and in the quantum regime, through your expertise in numerical methods and high performance computing.Key Responsibilities
Design and implement industry quality software infrastructure to automate the quantum integrated circuit design workflow, including the classical electromagnetic simulations of the device and the diagonalization of the quantum device Hamiltonian.
Accelerate simulations by adapting them for high performance compute clusters, including acceleration with GPU clusters where appropriate.
Develop optimization routines that wrap around the automated design and simulation workflow to improve the performance of quantum integrated circuits across a broad range of metrics (loss, crosstalk, etc…)
Drive a deeper understanding of our existing quantum processor designs and contribute to the design of next-generation architectures through computational modeling.
Collaborate with quantum integrated design and simulation engineers to identify and address inefficiencies in the design process.
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
Strong background in computational electromagnetics and numerical methods, with experience with commercial solvers including ANSYS, COMSOL, CST Microwave Studio or similar.
Experience in high performance computing.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art computational optimization techniques
Programming skills in Python for scientific applications, ideally in an industry or highly collaborative environment.
Familiarity with quantum mechanics and in particular, circuit quantum electrodynamics.
Ability to excel in a collaborative environment.
Excellent communication skills.

Experience in a technical role within an industry or startup environment

This is a hands-on, Operations-focused role in a deep R&D environment. As a Cryogenics Engineer at our Fremont, CA quantum computing FAB and R&D facility, you will work alongside a team of physicists, engineers, and technicians to support the development of leading-edge quantum computing technologies. Your responsibilities will include assembling and testing advanced RF assemblies, operating and debugging cryogenic systems, developing and maintaining best practices and standard operating procedures, and technical troubleshooting. You will utilize advanced electronic test equipment to characterize custom RF hardware in partnership with engineers from multiple disciplines, and you will play a key role in advancing Rigetti's best practices around quantum hardware testing and deployment.
The ideal candidate has deep lab experience working with sub-Kelvin cryogenic equipment, and will have performed a hands-on function with interdisciplinary advanced technology teams at industry-leading companies, academic labs, or similar. What You'll Be Doing
Operate, troubleshoot, service and maintain cryogenic equipment (scroll pumps, turbo pumps, cryo compressors, high vacuum valves/cold traps) including helium leak test procedures, pump rebuilds, and thermal system management
Assemble, validate and install complex electro-mechanical, cryogenic, vacuum and RF systems with superb attention to detail
Test and debug custom control systems in the form of validation testing on advanced RF components using electronic equipment such as network analyzers, DMMs, and tools developed in-house
Participate in test plan development and execution in support of next-generation RF hardware
Support cryogenic systems on-call in rotation with other members of the Engineering Operations team
Prepare, inspect and package quantum chip assemblies for testing
Follow established documents/procedures and create/adapt them as needed
Read and understand CAD drawings and engineering specifications
Support external system installations, working directly with customers and partners (travel up to 10%)
What You Bring to the Table
BS degree or equivalent in Physics, Engineering or equivalent industrial or military experience (MS, PhD nice to have)
Substantial lab experience working with sub-Kelvin cryogenic equipment.
Fluency with statistical methods for Test (Six Sigma, DOE, simulation, etc.)
