Our interns partner with teams across EchoStar working to drive our latest game-changing innovation. Our internship is a 10 week, in-person experience that is paid hourly with eligible overtime. Interns are given a business project(s) to complete over the summer and present their results to leadership and their peers. EchoStar provides each intern with a manager to support them with the execution of their project.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Analytics Engineering Intern will play a supporting role in building the data foundation for our new AI-powered intelligence platform. This is a full-time internship ideal for a student seeking practical experience at the intersection of Data Engineering, Analytics, and Generative AI. You will help ensure our AI agents have clean, trusted data to answer critical business questions.
Key Responsibilities:
The intern will focus on data quality, curation, and the configuration of new AI tooling:
Data Quality & Curation:
* Assist in building and testing the "Gold Panel" datasets in Snowflake, helping to clean and organize data regarding device sales, plans, and subscriber activity.
* Write and monitor automated data quality tests (using SQL or dbt) to check for missing values, duplicates, or logic errors before the data reaches our AI tools.
AI Tooling & Configuration
* Help configure and test our "Data Copilot" (built on Databricks Genie/Snowflake Cortex).
* Create a "Golden Set" of test questions to verify that the AI is correctly translating natural language into SQL code.
* Assist in documenting metric definitions so the AI understands exactly what "Gross Adds" or "Revenue" means.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
* GPA 3.3 or above
* Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, a graduate program, or a related field of study
* Must have 60 credit hours completed by May 2026
Skills and Qualifications:
* Successful completion of a pre-employment screen including a reference check, criminal background check, and possible drug test.
* Strong SQL skills (classroom or project experience); comfortable writing queries to join tables and aggregate data.
* Basic familiarity with Python is a plus.
* Understanding of basic database concepts (tables, views, schemas).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail-you enjoy finding the "needle in the haystack" when data looks wrong.
* Curiosity about Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
* Strong interpersonal skills and comfort in presenting information.

A Successful Candidate will have:

Benefits and Compensation information
We typically hire at $25 with a skills-based assessment within the first 3-6 months. Starting compensation range is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour for a new technician. Hiring pay above $25/hr. may require qualification with additional skills evaluations.
