**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Oversee technical operations including lab environments to replicate field issues, root-cause analysis, QA regression/acceptance testing, and escalation to internal development teams and third-party manufacturers

The day-to-day

Tokyo is a global aviation hub, offering exposure to international operations, advanced technology, and direct engagement with a leading airline. It requires contributing to shared knowledge, documentation, training of peers and other collaborators, and may require travel to other ViaSat offices, customer locations, and airline maintenance locations up to 50%.
The ideal candidate will have a background in commercial aircraft systems, specifically electrical and avionics equipment fixing and testing. The critical nature of the work requires good judgment, initiative and specialized technical expertise to understand problems and develop recommended solutions. This role must be comfortable working both as part of a distributed team, and independently as a remote resource. Prior experience working in a remote/distributed team is a plus.
Experience with hardware and software elements involved in IP networking and satellite communications is preferred. Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX configuration, and ability to capture and interpret network traces is a plus.

Principal Tasks:
This is the entry level for the Technical Services Organization - for both the Global and Regional teams
Provides Pre and Post Sales Technical Services for Adtran's Channels and End User's, with the appropriate level of support / supervision including:
On site and telephone support during normal business hours
On-call service outside normal business hours
On site, level 3 support outside of normal business hours following escalation from support partners.
Assist the customers during system evaluation and qualification trials and demo activities
Attend customer sites to install and commission Adtran products inside and outside of normal business hours
Administration and maintenance of equipment and tools used for support purposes
Documentation and feedback of product and quality issues to Engineering and Production via CRM tools (Salesforce) .
Assist repair unit in identifying technical issues and authorizing the return of faulty materials.
Create documentation and other tools to proactively educate channels and end users about potentially difficult issues prior to them becoming problems.
Develops knowledge of Adtran products, focused on the product family Optical Transport (WDM) - completes the relevant Adtran Certified Engineer courses
Supplementary Tasks:
Act as primary technical contact to designated customers for Service Delivery Management, including attendance and participation in Contract, Technical and Operational meetings.

Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience:

Coordinate with internal departments, MRO providers, and OEMs to resolve AOG situations.

Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or equivalent aviation maintenance background.

Network Operations Engineer, Access - Metronet
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Operations Engineer, Access is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in an associated area of the Network. This position primarily provides support for the operational network (NOC & call centers) but also interfaces with the engineering department and equipment vendors. The Engineer develops process and procedures for introduction of new equipment into the network, High level performance monitoring, and development of Tier 1 & Tier 2 capabilities. SME focus areas include IP & Routing, Voice, and PON Access network.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Support and resolve of the most difficult or advanced network problems using expert level troubleshooting and analysis methods.
* Produce and peer review MOPS for complex changes on the network.
* Perform proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution of complex problems.
* Provide training, assistance, and support for the NOC.
* Performs customer advocate duties while maintaining a positive and professional manner, especially during high stress situations.
* Works in conjunction with internal technicians and external service providers/engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Contribute toward departmental and company goals and objectives.
* Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
* 5-7 years of experience in Network Operations, Engineering, or Field Service within the telecommunications industry.
* Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
* Expertise in at least one SME focus area: IP & Routing, Voice, or Video, with strong knowledge of Ethernet and IP protocols.
* Hands-on experience with EMS, NMS, ticketing systems, and network management tools.
* Solid understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, routing, and switching.
* Required experience with Nokia, Adtran, and Calix OLTs; Cisco and Juniper equipment preferred.
* Familiarity with Nokia Altiplano, Nokia AMS, Adtran AOE/Mosaic, and Calix CMS platforms.
* Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
* Willingness to work on-call, maintenance windows, and rotating shifts as needed.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills for customer and vendor interactions.
* Technology and equipment certifications strongly desired; experience working with LECs and other carriers preferred.
