EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a risk and insurance manager to be responsible for our corporate insurance program as described below. This position located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for EchoStar's corporate insurance needs, including coordinating with operating subsidiaries located outside the U.S.Maintain and administer the company's insurance coverages. Plan, manage and oversee the annual insurance renewal process for various coverages, including general liability, property, umbrella/excess, worker's compensation, auto, foreign package, cyber, directors & officers, and errors & omissions.Review limits, deductibles, proposal quotes and renewal terms and make recommendations to senior management.Proactively identify risks and help evaluate insurance products to mitigate as appropriate.Review RFPs, leases, contracts and other legal documents to evaluate appropriateness of wording and ensure compliance with insurance policies, including certificates of insurance.Oversee and administer certificate of insurance process Manage property and casualty loss control issues.Manage insurance claims in conjunction with broker to reduce costs.Prepare and manage the annual insurance budget, review invoices and submit payment requests.Manage the Company's relationship with its insurance brokers.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree15+ years of relevant experience in corporate insurance, preferably at a global company or insurance broker.

Preferred Qualifications:

Key Accountabilities


Brookfield is seeking a Manger, Risk Management & Insurance to support the US Logistics division. The candidate will work closely with the Managing Director to help build out best-in-class risk management insurance programs and services. Primary responsibilities will include working with lenders, consultants, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise on appropriate insurance language for various legal documents. Additional responsibilities will include the underwriting preparation and placement of certain insurance policies, and the design and administration of operational risk management policies and procedures.


Responsibilities include:


Collaborate closely with the Managing Director, internal stakeholders and external consultants in developing risk management strategies for the placement and management of insurance programs under the US Logistics portfolio. Work closely with the internal acquisitions team to assist with insurance issues related to acquisitions. Duties include obtaining necessary documentation for insurance placement, premium estimates, and negotiating insurance requirements for all loan, access, and construction agreements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokerage partners to ensure efficiency of insurance program administration, including the advisement of assets in the pipeline and liaising between broker and internal teams. Provide insightful and comprehensive risk management consulting services to internal teams including contract reviews, explanation of coverages, and recommending appropriate insurance requirements including oversight for lease negotiation, tenant insurance requirements, managing Certificates of Insurance and policy related to Landlord/Tenant coverages Review quarterly adjustments for accuracy regarding additions and deletions of assets, closing dates, and internal premium allocations. Work with development teams to price and insure construction activity for new assets under the logistics portfolio. Work with Environmental counsel, consultants and brokers to review environmental reports and determine risk and/or risk transfer options for the program.



Candidate Profile


Bachelor's degree, preferably in the field of Risk Management, Insurance, Finance or Legal. ARM, CPCU, CRM certification preferred, Minimum 5-7 years of progressive Risk Management experience, either in a corporate insurance environment, an insurance brokerage firm or insurance company. Extensive knowledge and understanding of insurance lines, insurance policy forms and wordings, insurance market dynamics and conditions, with significant experience with insurance products and considerations applicable to commercial real estate development and ownership (e.g., environmental insurance and builder's risk). Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute value added solutions. Must be creative and demonstrate innovative thinking in responding to challenges presented by a rapidly evolving business model and regulatory environment. Must have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with ability to effectively present to all levels of management and external audiences including brokerage and insurance market partners. Highly proficient in Microsoft business applications including Word, Power Point, Access, Excel. Demonstrate a sense of urgency and ownership to drive projects to completion. Ability to lead and work effectively and collaboratively within team settings and build partnerships both internal and external. Resourceful, self-starter with advanced problem-solving abilities to deliver creative solutions. Effective deliberation and negotiating skills resulting in successful outcomes. Responsibilities

Supports implementation and maintenance of SCA Health's liability risk insurance program. This includes claims administration for various lines of liability insurance including Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Professional Liability and Property. Position evaluates and analyzes underwriting data and participates in discussions regarding the effectiveness of the program and costs.
