Riverside's Family After-School Program provides a structured, therapeutic after-school environment for children ages 6-12 in the Cambridge and Somerville communities who have experienced challenges such as neglect, homelessness, and trauma. The program offers clinically intensive, trauma-informed services that help children build coping skills, self-expression, and healthy peer relationships, while actively engaging families through regular events and collaboration.
In this vital role, the Young Adult PeerMentor supports youth as they navigate their treatment journey, offering outreach, advocacy, and peer support aligned with each individual's action plan.
The Young Adult PeerMentor will:
Help individual's gain access to resources and community supports.
Collaborate closely with the clinical team and using lived experience as a positive model for individuals' served growth and recovery.
Provide transportation (pick-up and drop-off) from school to the program, from the program to their homes, and field trips
Schedule: Part Time 20 hours per week
School Year Hours: 2-6pm; Summer Hours: 1-5pm
Pay Rate: $21.63/hourly; $22.28/hour with Peer Specialist certification

Responsibilities:
The PeerMentor works a mixed schedule of afternoon, evenings and weekend shifts to accommodate youth schedules.

provides services in a professional manner ensuring privacy, safety, respect and clear role boundaries for the youth.
works collaboratively with members of the youths' team (consisting of community-based providers, lifelong connections, and DCF social workers).
provides emergency support to the youth when needed, in accordance with Key's on-call system.
prepares well written session notes and documentation according to guidelines and timeframes.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma required. The Young Adult PeerMentor must have lived experience in coping with a serious mental health condition and must be comfortable sharing their successes and experiences with peers.
