Residential Counselor - Norwood We have a great full-time opportunity available to join our growing, stable and highly regarded organization, obtaining human services experience while making a difference in the lives of others. The Residential Counselor helps individuals maintain their physical and emotional health, foster relationships with housemates, family and community, live safely in the community and develop the skills necessary to increase the individual's independence. Interaction between staff and individuals will reflect an appreciation of each individual's uniqueness.
We work to encourage individuals to identify their strengths, develop and practice new skills, and actualize their hopes and dreams. Training and supervision provided.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. (40 hours)
Pay Rate: $20.00/hourly

Attends required mandatory Staff meetings.
Participate in all Departmental trainings as directed by Program Director.
Minimum Qualifications:

Good communication skills both verbal and in writing.
Ability to deal with conflict in an appropriate manner.
Ability to maintain proper attendance.
MAP certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Previous work in related field dealing with youths preferred.
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work as a team member.
Must have a valid Ma. license

We're looking to hire Residential Counselors to join our Mooreland ERP Youth Program. Residential Counselors maintain a therapeutic environment within the residence, which includes meeting the needs of the client in the following areas: safety, medical, emotional, food, clothing, and shelter. They participate in the development of reasonable limits and structures for each child and implement these limits on a daily basis within the residence and community in a fair and consistent manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To attend scheduled clinical and staff meetings and actively participate to determine treatment plans, re-evaluate case needs and goals, and develop skills.
To maintain client records in accordance with standard format and timetables.
To attend scheduled supervisory meetings with Program Manager.
To maintain progress notes on each consumer for the shift which staff worked.
To represent the dignity of each individual through vigorous promotion of the human and civil rights, which, in part, strives to keep people free from abuse and/or neglect.
To assist members daily in the enhancement of their ADL (activities of daily living) skills through practical experience and training both individually and in groups.
To promote the rights of people with developmental/intellectual disabilities to exercise choice and to make meaningful decisions in their lives.
To provide appropriate, safe responses to emergency situations when necessary.
To provide case management, outreach and advocacy to members, and be accountable for the quality and quantity of casework.
To develop strong, supportive relationships with the individuals.
To provide for individual care and safety, and observe all safety measures.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree or bachelor's degree in human service field preferred.
At least one year of experience
Must have valid driver's license and safe driving history.
Prefer bilingual (English/Spanish).
Must have availability of an automobile to transport individuals or perform other supportive services as necessary.

Job Summary:
We're looking for Full-Time, Part-time and Relief Staff Residential Counselor 1 to work with our DDS Program [Developmental Disability Services] team model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among workers and consumers. They are accountable to the DDS Program Manager, who is responsible for providing supervision and training. The Residential Counselor 1 is one who actively promotes the philosophy of the DDS Program, and maintains a high level of commitment to the program. This individual will respect the dignity of each individual through vigorous promotion of the human and civil rights which, in part, strives to keep people free from abuse or neglect and recognize that ethnic and cultural diversity of each individual must be valued and respected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To attend scheduled clinical and staff meetings and actively participate to determine treatment plans, re-evaluate case needs and goals, and develop skills.
To maintain client records in accordance with standard format and timetables.
To attend scheduled supervisory meetings with Program Manager.
To maintain progress notes on each consumer for the shift which staff worked.
To represent the dignity of each individual through vigorous promotion of the human and civil rights, which, in part, strives to keep people free from abuse and/or neglect.
To assist members daily in the enhancement of their ADL (activities of daily living) skills through practical experience and training both individually and in groups.
To promote the rights of people with developmental/intellectual disabilities to exercise choice and to make meaningful decisions in their lives.
To provide appropriate, safe responses to emergency situations when necessary.
To provide case management, outreach and advocacy to members, and be accountable for the quality and quantity of casework.
To develop strong, supportive relationships with the individuals.
To provide for individual care and safety, and observe all safety measures.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree or bachelor's degree in human service field preferred.
At least one year of experience working with psychiatric clients preferred.
Must have valid driver's license and safe driving history.
Prefer bilingual (English/Spanish).
Must have availability of an automobile to transport individuals or perform other supportive services as necessary.

The Residential Counselor II is an evolution of the basic, Residential Counselor I position. Residential Counselor II staff is expected to continue to fulfill all expectations of a Residential Counselor 1. In addition to those expectations, the Residential Counselor II will take more of a leadership role. To maintain a therapeutic environment within the residence, which includes meeting the needs of the client in the following areas: safety, medical, emotional, food, clothing and shelter. To participate in the development of reasonable limits and structure for each child and to implement these limits on a daily basis in the residence and community in a fair and consistent manner.

To lead a shift as outlined in the absence of the Supervisor.
Know and ensure youth treatment plan is supported during shift
To accurately log all required documentation.
To be responsible for acting as a “Staff Advocate” for clients.
To provide appropriate, safe responses to emergency situations when necessary.

Promote and ensure trauma informed practices are active during shift
To provides crisis intervention consistent with training
To notify Program Manager immediately in the event of a client crisis, suspected illegal activity or any behavior constituting an incident in the program.
To assist clients with activities of daily living, including but not limited to food shopping & preparation, housekeeping, banking, appointments, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree or bachelor's degree in human service field preferred.
At least one year of experience working in a related field dealing with youths preferred.
Prior supervisory role.
Must have valid driver's license
Must meet Agency requirements for driving history records.
Must have availability of an automobile to transport clients or perform other supportive services as necessary.
