Responsibilities
Work in the Operating Room of a Level 2 Trauma Center hospital
Handles all OR specialties except open heart, including ortho, vascular, general, thoracic, neuro, robotic, and ENT cases
Required to circulate and scrub on cases
Evening shift schedule: 5x8 hour shifts from 15:00 to 23:30
Call required two times per schedule
Uses Epic for charting and documentation
Scrubs are provided for all staff
First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
Returning former RWJBH staff must have a minimum 1-year break from the health system before eligibility for travel assignments
Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Team approach in a Level 2 Trauma Center environment

Current BLS certification required

Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Operating Room position requiring call availability and NJ or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
Work in the surgery department with a cardiac operating room focus
Patient population includes neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and older adults
Monday through Friday 8-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Call coverage required: minimum once per week overnight and every fifth weekend for 24-hour call Saturday and Sunday
Required to respond to call within 30 minutes
Pre/Post Op experience required
Responsible for direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative setting
Coordinates patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists
Directs and guides OR Technicians and other support personnel
Expected to participate in unit meetings, performance improvement activities, and in-service training
Call is managed via personal cell phone and does not require onsite presence unless called in
Must maintain compliance with hospital policies, standards, and regulations
Requirements
Active NJ or compact RN license
Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
Current ACLS certification (AHA or Red Cross, must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not in hand)
Current PALS certification (AHA, must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not in hand)
Minimum one year of perioperative nursing experience or equivalent on-the-job training
Workplace Violence Prevention training (DCI/BVP, completion accepted through Relias, staffing platform, or CDC resource)
CNOR certification preferred
BSN degree preferred
