    American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Chicago, Illinois. & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 02/03/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with an active IL RN license and recent acute care ICU experience for a float position at a Level 1 Trauma Center. Responsibilities Work in multiple ICU settings, including Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU Mandatory floating within scope to other ICU units and, if needed, to Med-Surg units and nearby facilities within 50 miles Level 1 Trauma Center environment Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Every other weekend coverage required (2 weekends per month) No block scheduling permitted Initial orientation and precepting on day shift Electronic charting using Cerner Must be willing to float to any ICU or Med-Surg unit as needed and between nearby facilities Navy blue scrubs required, not provided Team-based model in use when floated outside of primary competency Strict compliance and documentation deadlines must be met prior to orientation A maximum of 5 days of time off may be requested, with no more than 2 consecutive days and no weekend or holiday RTO allowed Holiday coverage required; no time off permitted the day before, the day after, or on holidays May receive float notification up to 2 hours before a shift Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience required Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required COVID vaccination required (booster not required) Must reside within 75 miles of the facility for local consideration Pending licenses are not accepted Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting the assignment Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-659540.
