Responsibilities
Position is in a Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU within a hospital setting
Unit size includes 8 CVICU beds within a combined 30 bed ICU
Patient population includes immediate post-op CABG and TAVR patients, as well as critically ill cardiac surgical patients
Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1 for fresh post-ops to 1:3 for stable patients, depending on acuity
Role involves care for intubated, ventilated patients and administration of critical drips with titration
Requires experience managing Swan catheters; experience with Impella, VAD, IABP, and CRRT is preferred
Limited tech support with primarily total patient care responsibilities
12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
EPIC EMR charting experience required
Navy blue scrubs required
Will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius
Responsible for all aspects of patient care, including assessment, planning, implementing treatments, and evaluating patient response
Care includes hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and use of advanced cardiac support devices
May need to care for patients with multi-system organ failure or trauma
Pass/fail EKG testing is administered on the first day with study guides available
Must wear navy blue scrubs
Holiday and every other weekend coverage required
Ancillary support varies depending on census and availability

Active OH or compact RN license required
Current BLS certification required
Minimum of 2 years recent CVICU RN experience required

Patients may require continuous bladder irrigation, telemetry monitoring, and use of specialized equipment such as B450 monitors, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, and PCA pumps
Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
Uses GE telemetry system
Responsibilities include caring for high acuity oncology patients and implementing strict infection prevention and fall reduction protocols
Team includes support staff with orientation period involving preceptor support
