Our client, a growing Biopharma in Gaithersburg is looking to bring on their first Controller for their US division. This is a phenomenal opportunity to join this growing publicly traded Biopharma that is headquartered in China. This Controller will be responsible for all the day to day hands on accounting through financial statements, technical research and FP& A. The Controller will set new policies and procedures and build out the accounting team in the US. Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

+ Provide finance partnering support to US team including clinical operations, early discovery, translational medicines and CMC, Corporate business development, Alliance management and other LOC supporting functions to enable business operations and efficiencies, budgeting and spending control

+ Responsible for establishing, developing, and implementing appropriate processes and procedures to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting and proper performance review with headquarter

+ Manage the month-end close process in compliance with corporate requirements focusing on accruals and cut off on R& D expenses

+ Responsible for balance sheet accounts reconciliation monthly explaining balance sheet fluctuations and review resulting analysis with Global finance VP monthly
+ Ensure adequate internal controls are established and maintained for US operations

+ Perform the forecasting, actuals reporting, and analysis function for: capital and project expenses, income statement, balance sheet, strategic spending analysis, and expense variances

+ Liaise with US IT and procurement to refine/implement Financial/SRM Systems (e.g. SAP, R& D project tracking system, etc.) to meet future requirements

+ Support potential US financial and tax compliance coordination work, facilitate LOC entity administrative procedure to ensure such compliance with local regulations/law

+ Develop, lead, train and manage direct personnel. Promote and foster a team environment across the US finance function focused on meeting and exceeding customer expectations
