ABOUT THE ROLE: The Research and Reference Librarian provides library instruction and research consultation to students, faculty, and staff across Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. Individuals with an interest in the fields of science, including biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physics, computer science, and engineering, are encouraged to apply. Collaborating closely with faculty, the librarian evaluates print and electronic resources to determine what should be retained or replaced, ensuring that current and relevant materials are available to support academic programs. This role may participate in committees, task forces, and library-wide initiatives. The position reports to the Team Lead for Reference and Research Services. Working closely with assigned departments and programs in a collaborative and team-based environment, Research & Engagement Librarians provide individual and small-group consultations, workshops, and instruction in information and resource use. Librarians at the AUC Woodruff Library are committed to supporting student learning and success. They are expected to collaborate with library and campus colleagues serving the diverse range of colleges and programs. A desire to learn new skills and explore new areas of expertise is highly valued. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop instructional materials, research guides, web tutorials, and digital learning assets. Design and deliver research seminars, workshops, and training sessions individually and in groups using emerging educational technologies. Provide general and subject-specific reference services for on-site and remote users, including participation in evening and weekend rotations. Select and deselect science-related materials (print, electronic, and multimedia) in alignment with AUC curricula and academic priorities. Establish benchmarks and conduct regular collection assessments with faculty to identify strengths and address gaps. Serve as the primary liaison to science programs, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Computer Science, and Dual Degree Engineering. Maintain office hours across AUC campuses, participate in campus-wide initiatives, and plan or host scholarly events. Contribute to developing, implementing, and reviewing library services, policies, and publications. Represent science disciplines on library committees, task forces, and cross-functional projects. Engage in professional development through participation in disciplinary and library organizations, presenting at regional and national conferences, and pursuing scholarly work. WORK/EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. 1-2 years of experience in library instruction using emerging technologies or information literacy frameworks. Experience providing reference and instructional services. Proficiency with electronic resources common to science disciplines. Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a culturally diverse environment. Working with the Digital Services Department, this position is responsible for digitizing and creating metadata for original archival materials in a myriad of formats using specialized high-resolution scanners. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Digitize various original archival materials (documents, manuscripts, photographs and negatives, bound volumes, publications) following professional standards and best practices. Demonstrate proficiency in operating specialized scanning hardware and software optimized for cultural heritage digitization. Ensure the overall quality of digitization activities, including creating high-resolution preservation images, following file naming and storage protocols, editing images as needed, and creating derivative images for access purposes. Under the guidance of the Digital Services staff, create descriptive metadata for original archival materials (documents, manuscripts, photographs and negatives, bound volumes, publications, audiovisual materials) following professional standards and best practices. Conduct quality control of export derivatives, ensuring correct placement in storage, checking file naming, file type(s), bit depth, resolution, page count, OCR, and cropping for consistency Assist with preparing audio-visual formats for outsourced digitization. Perform research needed to accurately identify, date, and describe documents and publications. Provide weekly progress updates to team leaders. Attend and participate in team meetings. Provide information assistance to users at service points on a rotating schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Assist with the printing of reproductions for exhibitions. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree. Two years of relevant experience. QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with archival digitization standards and best practices Experience operating a variety of scanning hardware and software Experience using image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop Experience with standard office software such as Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Sensitivity in handling fragile archival materials Understanding of library metadata structures and standards such as MODS, Dublin Core Familiarity with the digitization of audio and video formats preferred Effective analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communications skills. Job Summary The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Georgia invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Mathematics on the Dahlonega campus beginning in August 2026. This is a full-time position with benefits. Responsibilities * The faculty member will be expected to teach five classes per semester. * This is a full-time teaching position with no research expectations.
