    The Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library (AUC Woodruff Library) is dedicated to supporting the academic and scholarly missions of three distinguished institutions that constitute the world's largest consortium of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)-Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College. Strategically located to serve these campuses, the AUC Woodruff Library is a central hub for both intellectual and social engagement within the Atlanta University Center community. ABOUT THE ROLE: The Research and Reference Librarian provides library instruction and research consultation to students, faculty, and staff across Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University. Individuals with an interest in the fields of science, including biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physics, computer science, and engineering, are encouraged to apply. Collaborating closely with faculty, the librarian evaluates print and electronic resources to determine what should be retained or replaced, ensuring that current and relevant materials are available to support academic programs. This role may participate in committees, task forces, and library-wide initiatives. The position reports to the Team Lead for Reference and Research Services. Working closely with assigned departments and programs in a collaborative and team-based environment, Research & Engagement Librarians provide individual and small-group consultations, workshops, and instruction in information and resource use. Librarians at the AUC Woodruff Library are committed to supporting student learning and success. They are expected to collaborate with library and campus colleagues serving the diverse range of colleges and programs. A desire to learn new skills and explore new areas of expertise is highly valued. We welcome information professionals eager to partner with faculty in their research and teaching, and work with students at all levels to learn the information tools and skills needed to succeed in college and career. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop instructional materials, research guides, web tutorials, and digital learning assets. Design and deliver research seminars, workshops, and training sessions individually and in groups using emerging educational technologies. Provide general and subject-specific reference services for on-site and remote users, including participation in evening and weekend rotations. Select and deselect science-related materials (print, electronic, and multimedia) in alignment with AUC curricula and academic priorities. Establish benchmarks and conduct regular collection assessments with faculty to identify strengths and address gaps. Serve as the primary liaison to science programs, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Computer Science, and Dual Degree Engineering. Maintain office hours across AUC campuses, participate in campus-wide initiatives, and plan or host scholarly events. Contribute to developing, implementing, and reviewing library services, policies, and publications. Represent science disciplines on library committees, task forces, and cross-functional projects. Engage in professional development through participation in disciplinary and library organizations, presenting at regional and national conferences, and pursuing scholarly work. WORK/EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. 1-2 years of experience in library instruction using emerging technologies or information literacy frameworks. Experience providing reference and instructional services. Proficiency with electronic resources common to science disciplines. Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a culturally diverse environment. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Solid understanding of academic science resources (databases, journals, e-books, datasets) Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion Excellent oral and written communication Sound analytical and organizational capabilities Computer proficiency, including Mac systems and Microsoft Office PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the archival environment, including lifting and handling materials. Conveniently located and easily accessible to the campuses, the Woodruff Library is the center of intellectual and social life at the Atlanta University Center. The AUC-RWWL is looking for a highly motivated individual that will lend oversight and provide strategic for external partnerships and programmatic engagement. Reporting to the CEO and Library Director, this position serves as a member of the Senior Leadership team, and provides organizational leadership for partnerships including communication, grants, donor relationships, and programming. The Director of Strategic Partnerships, Communication, and Engagement works closely with faculty of the member institutions and may serve as a liaison for selected activities of the library's Board of Trustees. The incumbent is engaged professionally, participates in local, regional, and national initiatives, and has experience or an interest in non-profit governance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Community Engagement Steers the organization in cultivating and maintaining dynamic programmatic relationships with member institutions and community partners in metro Atlanta Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Library's communication initiatives in both print and digital formats towards promoting institutional awareness. Responsible for designing, implementing, and directing integrated and comprehensive Library engagement programs that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction and connection between AUC Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, and surrounding/related communities Partners with the AUC and other communities to develop distribution opportunities for advancing scholarship and collection awareness Engages AUC faculty, staff, organizations in collaborative public programming associated with existing and emerging digital and physical archival collections With the staff, curates physical and digital collections, media displays, and other initiatives to allow for audience engagement Partners with Library Director to identify opportunities to expand engagement and serve as a liaison between the Library and external organizations Contributes to the development and of new community partnerships to support Library and AUC wide initiatives Works with the Associate Library Director to operationalize grants, special initiatives, and other projects as necessary Donor Relations Implements a multi-year plan to advance institutional efforts to increase community connections and donations, and in and relationships Evaluates the impact of existing community/donor relationships to make, recommend and implement strategies for the future Identifies opportunities to connect and honor emerging and potential donor groups Leads the organization's pursuit of external funding, identifying and developing proposals that advance Library initiatives. As the central intellectual and social hub within the Atlanta University Center, the AUC Woodruff Library is conveniently located to facilitate access to all member campuses. The Library is dedicated to delivering excellence in service. In support of this commitment, the AUC Woodruff Library seeks an experienced, engaging, and dynamic Student Success Librarian (SSL) to join the Research, Learning, and Technology Services unit. This position will play an integral role in supporting student research and engagement, particularly through initiatives such as the First Year Experience (FYE) and other foundational academic programs. The Student Success Librarian will be responsible for fostering the development of essential research skills early in students' academic careers. The successful candidate will design and deliver innovative instruction, coordinate technology-driven services, and collaborate with colleagues to cultivate a culture of learning and scholarship across the AUC community. Additional responsibilities will include creating relevant web content, developing targeted resources, and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing student engagement. This position requires availability for evening and weekend shifts, rotating on a weekly basis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Collaborate to develop innovative strategies that promote student success in adaptable teaching and learning environments, with a focus on critical academic programs such as the First Year Experience (FYE), New Student Orientation (NSO), and English 101. • Partner with library staff and campus collaborators to advance undergraduate student success, including involvement in the Undergraduate Student Services Committee and supporting the Student Ambassador program. • Design and deliver classroom instruction, workshops, and seminars on information literacy, digital literacy, data literacy, AI literacy, and research methodologies for undergraduate students. • Work closely with instructors to integrate information literacy and research competencies into course curricula and assignments. • Create and develop online instructional resources, including LibGuides and instructional videos, to enhance the library's educational initiatives. • Promote and enhance library instruction and engagement programs, particularly those aimed at first-year, transfer, first-generation, and international students through FYE, NSO, and other related programs. • Collaborate with the Head of Instruction and Engagement to advertise and publicize library programs and services. • Partner with campus stakeholders to enhance undergraduate research and writing support. • Incorporate innovative teaching methods and emerging technologies into library instruction practices. • This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours depending on project demands and business needs. Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours is anticipated. QUALIFICATIONS: • A Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an ALA-accredited library school. • 1 to 3 years of professional experience in academic librarianship. • Proficiency in academic library services, emerging technologies, and best practices in instructional design and delivery. • Awareness of current trends and challenges within academic libraries and higher education. • Knowledge of student engagement strategies, particularly for first-year and underrepresented student populations. • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with library staff, faculty, administrators, and campus partners. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. • Expertise in creating inclusive, engaging learning environments that address diverse learning styles and needs, with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. • Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities. • Experience in evaluating student learning outcomes and using data to inform instructional improvements. • A demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development, innovation, and the exploration of new methodologies in academic librarianship. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge of basic preservation and conservation techniques for rare books and special collections. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: • This is an entry-level position.
