In 1970, armed with several years of experience in fabricating portable structures, A.L. Hartley recognized the need for consistent quality, innovation, and market sensitivity in the portable building industry.
In 1971, in the small town of Lyons, Georgia, A.L. Hartley started Robin Builders, a portable storage building and utility shed manufacturer.
Robin Buildings was founded in 1972 in Lyons, Georgia by A. L. Hartley, an entrepreneur who, in the early days of the industry, recognized the need for a better-quality storage building at a fair price.
In 1979, he expanded the operations to Florida and the two facilities have been in operation ever since.
The management of the Central Florida operation of Robin Builders was passed on to the second generation Hartley in the 1980's to his son Lewis.
Robin Nellius, a Certified Green Professional designation from the National Association of Home Builders has been a pioneer in systems built homes in Southeastern PA, DE and MD since 1984.
In 1987, A.L.’s son, Wayne Hartley, took over the family business and has continued to not only thrive in Southeast Georgia, but has become a source of jobs for more than 85 people in Lyons and neighboring towns.
In May 2019, Hartley announced that Robin will break ground for the new facility at the end of the year and that Robin’s workforce will also increase significantly.
