DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: To provide each student with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual probing, growth, and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Evaluates, selects, requisitions, and processes new library materials.
Provides guidance to students in the selection of library materials.
Informs teachers and other staff members concerning new materials the library acquires.
Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging and managing all library materials. Instructs teachers and students on use of the system. Sets policy and procedures for automated management of library materials.
Administers the library budget.
Prepares an annual inventory.
Collaborates with teachers in creating and facilitating classroom assignments and instruction that utilizes library resources and develops information literacy.
Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources.
Utilizes district-created materials for library instruction, including the RCSD Library Scope and Sequence.
Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of all reference materials in relation to planned assignments.
Presents and discusses materials with a small group of students or a class studying a particular topic, on the invitation of the teacher or in conjunction with the teacher.
Collaborates with the building computer coordinator, teachers and administrators in identifying needs and integrating library technologies into educational and information processes.
Collaborates with all staff to identify and use library information technologies and software required to meet patrons' information needs and support the curriculum.
Collaborates with the building's learning community to plan, design, implement and assess an effective, student-centered technology plan that incorporates library resources.
Participates in curriculum planning meetings.
Counsels with and gives reading guidance to students.
Promotes appropriate conduct of students using library facilities, technology and materials.
Arranges frequently changing displays and exhibits likely to interest the library's patrons.
Arranges for interlibrary loan of materials of interest or use to teachers and students.
Directs activities of support personnel assigned to the library.
Manages and coordinates the operations of the building's automated textbook system.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be according to current schedule. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a custodial position responsible for cleaning and minor maintenance and repair tasks in the upkeep of building interiors and exteriors for a department, agency, hospital, or school. Duties involve the application of simple routines and procedures in accomplishing cleaning tasks, minimal trade skills when performing maintenance and repair tasks. This position is distinguished from the position immediately below, Cleaner, by responsibility for maintenance and repairs, and the operation of floor cleaning equipment such as rider and walk behind auto scrubbing machines, polishing equipment, and small lawnmowers. The Custodial Assistant may exercise limited supervision over Cleaners, including responsibility for proper completion of work assignments. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (All need not be performed in a given position. Other related activities may be performed although not listed.)
Performs standard cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of floors and carpets, washing and dusting office and school furniture and bathroom fixtures, and replenishing dispensers with disposable paper products;
Performs simple service and repair work to furniture, and electrical and mechanical equipment, such as tightening loose nuts and bolts, unplugging defective electrical cords, replacing light bulbs, replacing washers;
Collects and disposes of trash;
Assists in the moving, distributing, and transporting of furniture, supplies, and equipment;
Turns off lights, secures and locks windows and doors;
Sweeps outside steps, rakes and picks up leaves and debris, shovels snow, and salts steps and walkways;
Pushes or rides lawnmower used in trimming grounds;
Writes work orders for maintenance and repair jobs;
Checks to see Cleaners have completed assignments properly;
Assists in lawnmower maintenance such as routine greasing, wheel replacement, and starter-cord replacement.
When assigned to the Rochester City School District:
Switches alarm systems from manual to automatic before leaving building for the night.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of building cleaning procedures, materials, and equipment; working knowledge of cleansing agents and proper application; working knowledge of cleaning and mowing equipment operation and proper safety measures; ability to follow oral and written instructions, especially as printed on cleansing agents and mechanical equipment; ability to read and write simple sentences; ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to operate cleaning equipment and lawnmowers; ability to make minor maintenance repairs; ability to perform repetitive, basic cleaning tasks; ability to pay attention to safety when using cleansing agents and electrical and mechanical equipment; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building cleaning work.

Job Summary:
An Educational Audiologist collaborates with educators, students, families, and other professionals to assess and manage hearing-related issues in school-aged children. They provide direct services, recommend accommodations, and support the implementation of hearing assistive technology (HAT) to promote optimal learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Hearing Assessments: Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations to identify hearing loss, auditory processing disorders, and other hearing-related issues.
Amplification & Technology Support:
Fit and manage hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems in educational settings.
Provide training and support for students and staff on hearing assistive technology (HAT).
Collaboration & Advocacy:

Maintain accurate records of assessments, interventions, and student progress.
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations regarding hearing-impaired students' rights and accommodations.

Strong knowledge of hearing disorders, assistive technology, and classroom acoustics.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to assess and modify classroom environments for optimal auditory access.

Qualifications:

Independent judgment is exercised in choosing methods or procedures when completing work assignments. This title differs from Maintenance Mechanic II in the greater responsibility for proper implementation and completion of a project requiring the coordination of many activities or trade skills, and by possessing a higher skill level. The work is reviewed by supervisors either by checking completed work, conducting periodic spot checks, or reviewing reports submitted by Maintenance Mechanic I's. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a foreman or other higher level staff member. General supervision may be exercised over Maintenance Mechanic II's, Maintenance Mechanics III's, Laborers or other lower-level staff members. Does related work as required.

Operates automobiles, trucks, air compressors, riding/push lawnmowers, snowplows, and other motorized equipment;
Performs grounds maintenance work such as fence repair, sign fabrication and repair, equipment (including athletic) repair, lawn cutting and maintenance (such as trimming, planting, weeding) and ice and snow treatment and removal;
Completes daily reports.
*Automotive mechanic duties are not performed at the Rochester City School District.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of one or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades; ability to work from plans, specifications and rough sketches; ability to follow oral and written instructions; working knowledge of one or more of the basic mechanical and building trade skills; skill in one or more of the electrical, mechanical and construction trades; ability to operate hand and power tools and perform manual labor; supervisory ability; ability to establish good working relationships with others; ability to work in all weather conditions; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus three (3) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as a skilled worker in one (1) or more of the electrical, mechanical or construction trades.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
: This is a custodial position responsible for assisting a Custodian Engineer with general housekeeping, maintenance tasks, semi-skilled repair work, steam boiler maintenance, recordkeeping, and the general physical condition of an assigned building or school in the Rochester City School District. The Assistant Custodian Engineer differs from Custodian Engineer by the absence of supervisory responsibilities and more hands on work. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of a Custodian Engineer or other higher level staff member. General supervision may be exercised over Custodial Assistants or Cleaners. The Assistant Custodian Engineer may assume the Custodian Engineer's responsibilities in his/her absence. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

Performs maintenance activities including building service, housekeeping, general maintenance, mechanical and electrical maintenance, steam boiler maintenance, plumbing and minor carpentry work including rebuilding fixtures and replacing non-working parts;
Fires and maintains steam boilers and related equipment;
Reads meters and gauges to determine operating condition of equipment and tests the chemical composition of the water in the boilers;
Disassembles boilers to clean and repair internal parts;
Operates air conditioning units and related equipment and performs minor repairs;
Cleans and lubricates pumps, fans, air compressors and other equipment;
Maintains floors and carpets in halls, stairways, classrooms, locker rooms, offices, and rest rooms;
Assists in keeping records of boiler checks, purchase orders, requisitions and payroll information;
Collects and disposes of refuse;
Washes, paints and varnishes furniture and equipment;
Performs basic grounds and maintenance tasks with hand or power equipment;
Closes and locks all windows and secures buildings;
Monitors the operation of swimming pool pumps and filters and treats the water with chemicals.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
: Good knowledge of building housekeeping and maintenance methods, materials and equipment; good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of steam boilers and related equipment; ability to assist with maintenance of records of department activities and expenditures; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate electrical and manual cleaning equipment; ability to perform semi-skilled repair work on complex operating systems; ability to make minor maintenance repairs; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to work well with others, specifically students and teaching staff; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, PLUS either:
(A) One (1) year of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in building housekeeping, operation and maintenance work involving the operation of a stationary steam plant; OR,
(B) Possession of a Chief, First, Second or Third Class Stationary Engineer's License issued by a Board of Stationary Engineers in the State of New York.
NOTE
: Additional experience can be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
: Possession of a Third Class Stationary Engineer's license issued by a Board of Stationary Engineers in the State of New York at the time of appointment.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION OF UNIT:
Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team with teachers, administrators, social workers, speech/language pathologists, audiologists, occupational and physical therapists. Uses a variety of assessment instruments in the areas of cognition, perception, personality, academic achievement, social and emotional behavior to arrive at diagnostic and prescriptive needs of student. Promotes the development of a positive multicultural learning environment which encourages student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Uses a variety of appropriate psychological instruments and techniques to conduct non-biased assessment.
· Constructs comprehensive psychological reports which include intervention and remediation strategies to be used.
· Interprets results of assessment and share results with student, parent, school personnel and other appropriate professionals.
· Interviews, counsels and provides training to school staff and parents.
· Interprets federal, state and local laws relating on eligibility of special services to children.
· Provides individual or group counseling services to children and families.
· Monitors and accepts responsibility as part of a team for the well being and success of students.
· Constructs professional reports to agencies.
· Serves as a resource to other professional staff in areas of cognition, academic, social and emotional functioning of children.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
: This is a highly skilled mechanic position involving responsibility for completing the more complex, detailed, and involved repairs to automotive equipment such as passenger vehicles, trucks (including school buses, vans, pickups, environmental services equipment), grounds maintenance equipment (including tractors, lawn mowers, snow removal equipment) and tools and equipment. The employee is required to perform the full range of mechanics' duties, but is distinguished from the lower level position, Automotive Mechanic, by responsibility for major overhauls and repairs involving complete disassembly and assembly of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vacuum and air brakes; and complete re-wiring of major equipment. Employees of this class may work under unpleasant working conditions including extremes of heat and cold, noxious fumes and odors, wet, damp, and cramped working areas. Work is performed independently or with a repair team under limited supervision. General direction is available from a mechanic supervisor or other higher-level staff person for non-routine, difficult or costly repairs. A Senior Automotive Mechanic may be required to be a lead mechanic over lower-level mechanics. Does related work as required.

Completes major and minor repairs to diesel and gasoline powered vehicles including the full range from heavy equipment to passenger vehicles;
Performs standard and major heavy equipment repairs to gasoline and diesel engines and hydraulic systems;
Repairs and rebuilds (disassembles and assembles) all automotive systems such as cooling, electrical, exhaust, steering and suspension, fuel system, brake, and drive train;
Rewires electrical systems;
Repairs electric motors, tools and equipment;
Repairs vacuum and air brakes;
Repairs and installs fuel pump and fuel injectors;
Operates machine shop equipment such as lathes, grinder, drill presses and other working machines to make, rebuild or repair parts for automotive equipment;
Repairs mechanical parts on sweepers, loaders, salt spreaders, backhoes, and other public works equipment;
Grinds valves and fits new bearings, pistons and rings;
Diagnoses chronic automotive problems and devises permanent rather than standard, temporary repairs;
Diagnoses heavy equipment and automotive problems caused by maladjustment, worn, damaged, or defective parts, or improper lubrication;
Determines correct parts needed in the repair of specific equipment;
Checks for automotive problems using visual observation, tactile contact, road tests, and shop testing equipment;
Performs preventative maintenance functions such as lubrication, filter changes, major and minor tune-ups, tire checks, fluid checks, safety inspections;
Instructs lower level mechanics in the proper method of repairing and adjusting engines, bodies, and chassis on all forms of automotive equipment;
Leads and works with lower level or more specialized mechanic on difficult, complex, and physically demanding jobs;
Performs New York State authorized inspections of road vehicles;
Road tests equipment and motor vehicles;
Performs minor collision repair work and straighten and weld frames and fenders;
Operates snow removal and road construction equipment in times of emergencies or slack work, or performs other related duties as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
: Thorough knowledge of hydraulics and diesel and gasoline engines; thorough knowledge of the principles of heavy equipment mechanics including systems and parts operations, systems and parts interrelationships, systems and parts functions; thorough knowledge of the methods and practices involved in repairs to heavy equipment; good knowledge of shop equipment, tools, parts and their potential use; good knowledge of State Department of Transportation rules and regulations governing the repair and maintenance of buses; good knowledge of machine shop equipment and its use; working knowledge of the mechanical operation and terminology of heavy equipment; skill in the repair of major heavy equipment; skill in the use of shop tools and equipment; skill in completing major overhauls and repairs to hydraulics; ability to read automotive manuals, schematics, and work orders; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to repair entire systems, including major overhauls, complete disassembly and re-assembly; ability to select and properly use shop tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner; ability to diagnose problems of all systems, especially diesel engine, vacuum and air brakes, and hydraulics; ability to inspect a road vehicle in accordance with mandated safety standards; ability to operate and road test motor vehicles and equipment; ability to get along well with others and provide lead supervision when required; dependability; manual dexterity; strength; mechanical aptitude; attention to safety needs; willingness to work in cramped, cold quarters with noxious fumes; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:
(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Automotive Mechanics, plus one (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience as an automotive mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic under the supervision of a journeyman level mechanic including diesel experience; OR,
(B) Three (3) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience as a journeyman level automotive mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic including diesel experience; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
NOTE
: Journeyman level experience refers to skilled mechanical work which would involve maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of all systems: brakes, suspension, cooling, exhaust, electrical, transmission and engine of vehicle equipment.
Where education is below the minimum specified, additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Depending on assignment, applicants may be required to:
1. Possess a valid New York State Inspector's license at the time of appointment.
2. Possess a valid New York State CDL *B* license and specific endorsements.
3. School Bus Mechanics must possess a valid New York State Class *CDL C* Operator's license by the end of the probationary period.
4. Candidates may be required to pass a physical examination to determine ability to perform the job.
5. May be required to have own tools commensurate to be able to perform work assigned.

:
