    Job Title: Field Specimen Phlebotomist - Floater Department: Field Services Hours Per Week: 40 hours Schedule: Days, Monday - Friday The Field Specimen Phlebotomist Floater is responsible for providing coverage at multiple client sites to cover continuous coverage during Processor and Phlebotomist absences and/or Processor/Phlebotomist openings. On-site responsibilities include collecting and shipping patient specimens in an accurate, efficient and timely manner (urine and oral fluid specimens as well blood draws). RESPONSIBILITIES Greets and identifies patients according to SOP. Obtains billing and testing information according to SOP. Collects urine and oral fluid specimens for drug testing according to SOP Performs blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques Performs data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner Packages and prepares specimens for shipping to testing location according to SOP Performs customer service duties to include phone inquiries and patient encounters Collects patient payments according to SOP. Is trained on and adheres to all HIPAA and DrugScan compliance policies as they pertain to patient information, orders and billing processes. Complies with safety rules and regulations to include proper handling procedures of samples, cleanliness and neatness of workstations and proper use of personal protective equipment. Maintains workstation supplies Able to travel to multiple states up to 75% of the time. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor/management. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 2 years of phlebotomy experience Graduation from a Phlebotomy Program Ability to travel up to 75% of time. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1 year of customer service experience preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm and two weekends per month. Flexibility with hours is needed for clients who may start earlier or stay later than the posted hours. Must be comfortable driving to client sites in the Buffalo Grove area and the surrounding suburbs. Base hourly rate includes float differential compensation. Responsibilities: Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards and in accordance with departmental policies, protocols and procedures. Demonstrates AIDET model and optimizes patient safety to reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Receives and reviews physician orders; ensures that all necessary information is included for appropriate lab services. Enters accurate orders for lab tests in accordance with department policies, protocols and procedures. patient communication model and provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care. Processes specimens in a timely manner to ensure stability and integrity of samples including: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and packaging specimens for transport in accordance with established protocols and policies. Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records. Areas of concern are recorded through the Corrective Action Log and reported to maintenance for repair. Findings are reported to supervisor or manager. Understands the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to the job. Follows up with all outstanding orders on manifest log, and communicates all timed, completed or uncompleted draws/charges/results as appropriate Communicates and notifies Laboratory and/or Physician of problems with specimen procurement for optimal care Maintains a safe work environment, holds self-accountable for safe work practices; including adhering to biohazard waste procedures and ensuring proper storage and timely pickup of biohazardous waste. Performs lab-related clerical duties include but not limited to order entry, verification of test result receipt, patient information retrieval as well as utilization of email, medical record systems, handheld and desktop devices, ordering and maintaining supply inventory, filing and sanitizing equipment as necessary Uses department's resources efficiently; participates in efforts to reduce costs and streamline work processes.
