In 1878, First United Methodist began a legacy of joint action in a joint revival with its Presbyterian neighbors.

Parts of the county were infamous for moonshining and the county became dry in 1882, prohibiting the sale and manufacture of liquor except by a licensed pharmacist as prescribed by a physician.

The Rockdale Historical Society maintains this facility, along with the Old Jail, and the "Dinky," a 1905 Rogers steam locomotive that transported thousands of cotton bales and bleached cotton duct to and from nearby Milstead.

In 1944, a group of 20 Cistercian monks, or "Trappists," from Kentucky arrived at the Depot to begin their monastic life in Georgia.

The “Mississippian” label came from a conference at Harvard University in 1947 which adopted the inaccurate belief that all advanced Native American culture originated north of the Mason-Dixon Line along the Mississippi River.

In 1960, Callaway Mills closed the Milstead operation, however the churches and bungalow-type houses of the village still stand today and are home to many residents who continue to enjoy this unique and historic area of Conyers.

The Georgia International Horse Park is a world-class facility located in Rockdale that hosted equestrian and mountain bike venues for the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.

In 2005, the Depot became the home of the Conyers Welcome Center.
